So, if you've had a snow day, what have you done with it?

Lumpy Golightly, 3 February, 2009 at 22:20 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

Never mind the debate about whether it's right or wrong, how did you spend your extra day off?

I treated mine partly as a working day. Had I been in school I'd have had 2 hours of non-contact time, and I spent at least that here doing what I'd have done in school - marking exercise books. I started later than usual though, I didn't get out of bed till gone half eight. Bliss.

I also took the opportunity to take the dog out, she had a lovely run in the park and has slept all afteroon. I came back and baked cookies and made cottage pie for dinner.

Ah, the joy of marking! I had a lie-in, cleaned the cooker and had some breakfast whilst marking some maths books. Then I spent far too much time planning one poxy lesson for an observation tomorrow...only to have a lightbulb moment and change it about an hour ago. I built a funky snow person with my husband and siblings and then had some dinner. Am currently watching the crazy programme with the children whilst cutting strips of paper for said lesson - phew!

    How are you Lumpy?

Tis 30degrees here. yesterday morning we went to the zoo then for a quick dip in the pool. The nanny took N to the park all arvo whilst I had an afternoon off shopping then me and H caught the early evening sun and had a lovely evening swim.

Swimming again this morning and then picnic in the park later.

    Sorry, couldnt resist. ?

I had two snow days off-but it's back to t' mill tomorrow! I cooked-a lot, mainly to stock up the freezer- curry, casserole, lasagne and a pear and almond flan (which didn't make the freezer!) watched vintage dvds-French Connection 1&11, made inroads into the 24 boxset, hitched, chilled with H (who was on a rest day anyway yesterday) and browsed the net for skin care/cosmetics. I have absolutely no problem switching off and no guilt-it was impossible to get in yesterday all trains and buses on my route were cancelled all day, and today, I could have-albeit a looooong delay on what is already a 2 hour journey, but my boss said to stay at home......I didn't need telling twice.

I was off anyway (as I was yesterday and tomorrow) but am feeling quite virtuous as I've managed to finish most of my essay today - only another 425 words to go ?

I'm fine thanks. You? Good luck with the obs... we're expecting the call from Ofsted any day so I'll be planning like a mad woman when that happens ?

I'm well...should be in bed but the lie-in has thrown me completely ?

Eek, Ofsted - we had them in for 2 days just before Christmas. Despite assurances from management that NQTs wouldn't be observed I was...in RE of all subjects. Good luck for when they do arrive ?

I worked from home which was good. Went out at lunch time for a walk around the village. Just walking back up to house and a chap in a range rover drove (purposely) so near me all the muddy snow soaked my trousers. Not impressed. Am catching the bus to work in the morning as would still have to dig the car out and i would rather let H do that as he is on leave tomorrow!

I had built a snowman by 8.30! Spent most of the rest of the day taking shots of things in the snow for xmas cards next year. When it got dark, I edited them.
I also tidied and hoovered which is normally H's job today, but seeing as I got an extra day off, thought it was only fair!

H had two days off, which was lovely but it means still more days unpaid ? I think he's clocked up about 10 days' work since 20th December [hyperventilates] He's been painting the kitchen cupboards. Rock and roll. We did take the baybeh to the ILs to build a showman yesterday which was lovely.

We haven't yet had snow so bad that we can't get to work. However, they are forecasting heavy snow overnight. I am hoping it won't be bad, I have 5 viewings booked tomorrow and I need the money!
I think if I have to rearrange for snow, I will cancel one of my days off next week to catch up.

    xx
