So pleased!

LizBjk, 16 May, 2009 at 16:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

My race for life sponsor form only went online Wednesday, and I put a target down to raise £100. Well, we've raised £70 already + £19.74 gift aid already! I'm so happy. Another 9 weeks and 1 day to go. We may even double the original target. ?

Good luck. I can't wait to do mine. You should be more like me, ask everyone. I don't give a toss. ? Seriously though, I'm normally really shy, but in this case it's important so have been asking everyone.

    Where you doing yours?

We must be doing it the same weekend WT. Mine's on May 31st. I raised £660 last year. Hoping to raise £300 this year.

Liz Im doing mine in Cardiff. Will be the second time for me, last year I did it for someone else who had collected her sponsorship money but was having IVF on the day of the race, so I said Id do it for her so she could legitimately collect the cash. She did get pregnant and had twins, so Im glad I did it for her!

I walk the course and did it in 55 mins last year, not expecting to beat that as I have quite a bad back and have been seeing a chiro to try and help, so I get quite bad muscle spasms that render me unable to walk, so Im taking it easy this year and I might stroll it lol.

Yep on 31st in Cardiff! I might do it for my friends mum this year as she is currently undergoing a third bout of chemo before they take most of her liver away. Last year it was im memory of my gran.

    Mel that's a fab total! ?

WT, really pleased the ivf worked for your friend. It doesn't matter what time you do it in anyway, crawl if need be. ? It's the taking part that counts. Good on you for doing it especially if you had a bad back. ?

Well done thats really good. I need some tips on how to persuade people to hand over their cash. I have set a sponsor form up on line for an event that I am doing and only my husband has donated yet - must try harder! A lot of my friends and family are struggling financially and so I feel rather guilty for bugging them for money.

Good luck for the race for life.

    Good luck to you too.

Do you work? You could always pass the link address around. Or put it on your facebook? I'm personally only using the online form as that way if people want to donate the money goes straight to the cause so it saves chasing people for the money. Plus you also get the gift aid donation which is worth doing it that way alone.

Either way, anything raised is great. If a thousand people ran and only raised £1, that's still £1000 donated to cancer research.
