The Grouch That Stole Christmas

So, the BBC's 11-plus - how did you all do?

I know half of you will have done it already ?

I am feeling very smug and self-satisfied at the thought that had I been allowed to take the 11-plus at the age of 31 I would have got full marks. go me.

I'm refusing to do it. It would be very bad for my head-state right now if I failed ?

Huh. You're supposed to get 10 minutes, but when I press start it counts down from 6 seconds then tells me I've run out of time. ?

I will admit that I looked at it, tried the first question, thought "this is crap, it doesn't work in Safari", and was about to close the window when I noted the big start button...

It will only give me six seconds to answer the questions ?

    [potential showoff warning]

    14/15 in 4 mins 32 sec (I timed myself) ?

If anyone can explain question 15, I'd be glad to hear it - I got bored and guessed (wrongly)

    It's two sequences. Numbers 1, 3, 5 and 7 increase by 2 while 2, 4 and 6 increase by 1.

Is it 22? Two sequences alternately- one is +2, the other -1. If only it would let me fill it in ?

The odd numbers (1st, 3rd, 5th) increase by two, the even ones (2nd, 4th) by 1.

    Thanks all.

Back in my day they wouldn't have dreamed of overlapping two sequences.

I got 15/15 and within the time limit but I only had about a minute and a half left - I got stuck on 10 & 11 for ages, I couldn't work out the patterns at all.

12 out of 15 here and I needed the whole 10 minutes. I wasted valuable time by going and closing my office door so I could pretend I was concentrating on important work stuff though.

    I got 13/15 - in under 4 minutes. I got 15 wrong and no 12 I think.

I got 14 / 15. I skipped one question as I wasn't sure and forgot to go back to it at the end.

I got 15/15 but I struggled with the codes question for a good few minutes, just couldn't get my head around it. I've always liked number puzzles though ?" />

I got 10 out of 15. I failed it when I was 11 so no wonder, my brain is another 19 years older!!!

15/15...don't know how long it took though because I didn't time myself - about 4 mins I think. Mind you, I did pass the 12+ (as it was then in Bucks) so I would have been pretty stupid if I hadn't passed this 11 years later.

12 out of 15 here - under the time limit, but don't know how long. In my defence I had 'Jack's story' or something shooty bang, bang in my ear and H saying 'did you see that', 'oh my God' etc ?

    Top of the class!

    You've scored 15 out of 15.

    ?

Though it did take me just over 8 minutes. Numbnuts, you are a freak! (In a nice, brainy way, of course!)

I did pass it when I was 11 and for some strange reason, I really love tests like that and it made me feel all nostalgic!

    12/15 - that'll do.

Did the real thing back in the day - and then the 13+ school entry exam to get into the grammar schools where we moved to. Verrry odd school!

    Oh dear.

I'm tired. Is that an excuse?

I was reading far too much into Q1 I think, took ages over it and then gave up. Then I rushed. I took ages over the codes one, thought I'd done it but then it was wrong so I guessed. I did OK on the others though.

H and I got 15/15 working together! I think if I'd done it alone I'd have got about 12.

I'd have done better on literacy questions, I'm not that great at looking fir numerical patterns, esp after 1/2 a bottle of wine!?

I did actually pass the exam when I was 12 and went to grammar school in Buckingham - that was a VERY long time ago though!

I got 15/15 and it took me just under 6 minutes although that does include an interruption from H part way through?

I did pass the 11+ back when I was 11 though so I would have been a bit worried if I couldn't do it now!

13/15 - I was easier when I took it as an 11 year old to get into grammar school
