So these Wii Fit things - are they any good?

Fenella Fudge, 3 August, 2008 at 13:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

Now that I've finally persuaded H to buy a Wii should we be buying a Wii Fit too? Are they any good or just something thats bought on a whim?

H only wants the Wii so he can buy Guitar Hero so while he's buying that I'll have the chance to slip a fit board in too ?

Do you think they help you to lose weight/tone up etc?

Thanks.

I like it, although in fairness we've not really used it much but that's down to trying to sort out the room layout to get enough space (Wii is set up in spare bedroom).

H has gained 11 pounds since his first body test - oh dear.

Well done Kerri! 4lbs loss is great! Hopefully I'll follow your footsteps and not Baby Bun's H ?

Do you need a lot of space for it then? I dont think H will be bothered but hopefully I'll use it a lot.

Do you work up a sweat on it or is it more pilates type movements?

It's ok. I've had it since it was released and used it about 4 times. The problem with it is it takes about 45mins to do 30 mins exercise.

I wasn't impressed with it and actually sold mine. It is very gentle exercise.

The graphics on the Yoga section are terrible as well.

You need enough space to work out i.e. stretch / press up position etc. Our spare room, whilst reasonably sized, is fully of crap!

I think the extra time is having to switch between exercises / movements manually i.e. it doesn't really flow from one yoga movement to the next, you have to select each one via the menu (unless this changes when you've unlocked more features?)

We love ours. I don't use the yoga as i'm not flexible at all, but I am using the hula hoops, steps and running, which makes me work up a sweat. I use the Wii Fit and my exercise DVD over 5 days and lose around 2lbs a week.

H loves it too, especially the boxing and running. He's losing around 1lb a week, which is good as he doesn't have as much to lose as me.

Fenella, the guitar hero for the wii is on sale on Amazon at the mo. £39.99 instead of £69.99.

Ive got the wii fit, loads of fun and the hula hooping is a great work out
