So, where is my period?? (NOT BT)

ATB, 4 April, 2013 at 10:45 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 47

I'm usually pretty regular within a couple of days each month, I was due on around 24/25th March and it still hasn't arrived. That weekend I had a bug, with bad S&D. I felt really dehydrated for the next few days after it, even though I was aware of trying to re-hydrate after being ill.

So my question is, could my period have stopped because of the dehydration/illness? I was expecting it to arrive sooner than this, now coming up for two weeks late ?.

I think I may have had my usual PMT but later, after my period was due, so I expected to come on after that. Although it may not have been PMT as MF has been ultra annoying recently, so I've generally been in a bad mood with him.

I put NOT BT in the subject - as I 100% cannot be pregnant, so it's not an option - before anyone suggests that!

I have sometimes had a late period, but only normally a week or so late. Never two weeks late.

Maybe too personal,do you take any contraception with hormones in?

Hmmm. Not sure; your body can do weird things when you're ill. I'd leave it a couple of days! I find that mine go a bit wonky when I've been on a particulary long run or something, so maybe dehydration has something to do with it?

I SO know what you mean about the preggers thing. I just have to get a sniffle these days and my mum is all "Oooh, you're not PREGNANT, are you?" (desperateforagrandkidmuch?)

Although...my doctor always asks me if I'm pregnant and I always say 100% no, no way, no chance, but he always says that- unless you're just not having sex, ever- there's always a 1% chance....THAT'S REASSURING THEN DOC, THANKS.

Nope - when I say 100% cannot be PG I mean it!

This was what I was going to say, unless, of course, there is a medical reason behind your 100%.

I'm no real help as I've never had anything even close to a regular period. I know anorexia and things can stop periods, but i wouldn't have thought a week or two of D&V would be enough to effect them. You stressed? Stress can make things a bit hay wire.

If I was 100% confident that I couldn't be pregnant, and I'd been a bit sicky, I'd wait and see until the next one is due.

In the meantime, I'd be helping things along. Hot baths, rough sex, lots of gin, straining poos.

The last time I had a smear test, it moved my menstrual cycle by about 2 weeks. Anyone been fiddling down there recently?

I have had a quick Google (as you do) and found out that I am 0.4% at risk of being PG. So I stand Corrected: I am 99.6% sure I am not PG!

I don't really get stressed, but I've been quite busy/had a lot on my mind so I expect I may be and I don't realise it. I get stress-related Eczema, which occurs even though I feel ok, and I've got it at the moment, so inwardly there must be something. So the stress factor could be it, although they've not been altered in the past because of this.

I don't know how to multi quote:

Yes - this is the plan. The 0.4% risk doesn't bother me!

I thought that was how you brought on childbirth?!?

Nope, no fiddling. Chance would be a fine thing.....

Or do you mean multiquote across different posters?

Can't do any harm to test, ATB.

Otherwise, I'm afraid I have no idea on cycles as I'm still waiting for my first natural period in 14 years after coming off the pill 94 days ago Smiley laugh

It was 15 odd years ago, it has been our only method of contraception for 7 years, surely if it had 'grown back' I'd have fallen pregnant by now. I really don't want to have to test, seems a joke!

I think it wouldn't hurt ATB. If you're normally regular then it would at least rule it out ?

I suspect if you mention the disappearance to a GP the first thing they will ask you is if you've taken a test. Not that a GP would give 2 hoots about a period that was 2 weeks late no matter how regular you are.

Kharvo - When I came off the pill last time I was period free for 56 days & starting to get concerned - mentioned it to the GP (whilst there for something else) & he said he didn't want to know until I'd been pill & period free for a year!

Voice of Doom.... The only time EVER my periods went off course was when I was approaching the menopause. And it happened at a much younger age than I was expecting.

Apart from when I was pregnant, of course.

Ok so far Otters you've come up with:

    Pregnancy
    Stress
    Menopause

    Thanks for that guys!

Aren't tests about £10!?! Seems a waste of money, but I know I'm tight. I'm seeing my friend tomorrow who is PG, and was a bit obsessive about testing before she fell, so I bet she'll have one kicking about she can bring me.

You can get cheapies from Poundland and the likes. If you're 2 weeks late it would show up on any test.

My friend has thrown into the mix a weird reason - says it could be something to do with hormones released because I've got a new pup but my body thinks I've actually got a baby??? ? Surely that's outrageous!

Anyway, she's bringing me a test tomorrow.

Sorry that this has tuned into to BT discussion. Will update tomorrow.

What a nightmare ATB! A few days to a week I would put down to it just being one of those things, stress, illness but 2 weeks is alot and with you being so regular? Erm I think you're friend is bonkers in the nicest possible way. I don't recall being late when we got Ray ha! Anyway I am sure it isn't anything to worry about but if it were me I would probably make an apointment with my GP just to get a bit of advice, I know that they say you should get abnormalities with your periods checked out. I hope AF arrives soon lovely.

What's AF? Is it a slightly more polite way of saying 'rag week'?
