Some help please

LuxuriousPinkDecor833, 1 November, 2017 at 16:03 Posted on Planning 0 2

I have booked my wedding in a hotel, We are getting married at half 2, we then have canapés and ‘mingling for around an hour while our room is transformed.

During this time I want ‘something’ at my wedding. So I suppose in my head I know I want something but I just don’t know what the something is.

My friend had a magician at this point in their wedding who blended as a guest and just performed small tricks while people were drinking. I loved this but don’t want to copy, I want something different.

I already have a sax player booked for later on in the night so dont want any form of music either.

Does anyone have any ideas?

We are having outdoor games such as giant jenga, bowls, and corn toss, we have also had a request for an indoor jigsaw puzzle which might be surprising how many people want to have a bit of a play and allows for rain. The outdoor games can be brought indoors too as there is room before dancing.

You can have a quiz, so one or two people call out who does what first between the bride and groom, i.e. who is always right? Then the bride holds up the grooms shoe for example. (I found that on youtube a few weeks ago).

You could have a caricaturist or a prop/photo booth so guests can take a picture of themselves away?

We are having a casino come to our venue to entertain guests. My friend had it at hers and it was such a fun way to get everyone interacting with each other. Also helped there was free bottles of bubbly for the person with the most chips at the end so everyone was getting stuck in. It was Monopoly money so everyone had a good laugh. Nothing worse than waiting round on the bride and groom with nothing to do x

My first suggestion would have been a magician had you not already mentioned it!

You want something non-intrusive but will still make an impact and be remembered... if you haven't looked into caricaturists yet then I highly recommend them. Guests are naturally going to want to chat and mingle at this point. A caricaturist serves this scenario really well and can offer a talking point as well! They're really cool these days too and many are offering 'digital' caricatures drawn live on an iPad or tablet right in front of you.

If you want to elicit an even bigger reaction I would have a think about an impersonator or lookalike. Words can't describe how stupidly giddy and stunned you can be when standing face to face with what feels like the real thing! Some lookalikes are absolutely hilarious and are extremely adaptable in social situations, mixing in with your guests and providing memorable photo opportunities. I recently met an incredible Jack Sparrow lookalike and he didn't break character once! He had also nailed the look to a tee. They'll become part of the party and still allow guests to enjoy the day without feeling obliged to take part or stop and watch.

Let me know if you have any other questions, hope this helped!
