Someone please give me a good reason not to

Melancholie, 18 February, 2009 at 14:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 20

I'm trawling my way through 42 essays on the same play and it's driving me batty. All I want to do right now is go to the local shop and buy some chocolate. Someone please give me a good reason not to.

Because you'll still have to finish the marking and you'll feel bad about the chocolate as well.

What play? I bloody hate marking. It is the single thing that stops me thinking of going back to teaching.

Why don't you want to? I'm Paul McKennering so my advice is if you want the chocolate and you're hungry you should get it and enjoy it. If you're not hungry and just eating to relieve boredom it won't work you'll probably regret eating it 10 seconds after it's gone.

    How dull am I?

PL - It's J.B. Priestly's An Inspector Calls. They don't seem to have listened when I told them they're writing for an informed audience. I don't need treating to his life history and a summary of the play!

Chicken - I don't want to because I'm trying to be good this week as we were very naughty over the weekend and I gained 3lbs, so I probably shouldn't eat any chocolate. I want it though. And no, I'm not hungry, I just want it. Which is completely the wrong reason to eat it. But it tastes nice...

Chook - is PMcK working for you? I was thinking of giving it a go, but part of me thinks he's a charlatan...

I loved that play at school ?, my sister and I were talking about it just the other day as I was relating it to the downfall in my life ?

I'm supposed to be being good but I had two cookies today. And i'm out for dinner tonight, ah well.

You should not have the chocolate because Cadbury's have just announced that all chocolate they've made is made with boiled kitten fat...........

Probably not the right thing to say, but finish your marking and then treat yourself with a large bar.

I did The Crucible at school, but I'm sure I would have loved this just as much. Interestingly, I've done it with top and bottom set, and whilst bottom set love it, top set find it boring. Top set are also complaining about doing War of the Worlds. Them: "Why can't we do something more modern?" Me: "Because this is your pre-1914 prose study!" ?

I think its better to satisfy a craving with just a little of what u fancy e.g a square of chocolate not a giant bar. lol

Its takes craving away and you wont feel like u are denying yourself.

And for me anyhow, stops me from thinking about it all day long and then scoffing a whole load.?

Lilster, it worked last year when I followed his 'rules' - the only thing that ever has. I lost a stone and dropped a dress size in about 2 months. Silly me though thought I was forever cured of fatness forever and started eating like a fat person again. Was fine for a good few months but then it all caught up with me. I've just started again.

Chicken I am following this too, taking it nice and slow. Which for me is a teeny bit frustrating but you know I am losing weight so should not complain!

Let me know how you get on Kaz. It's common sense really and worked for me before I stupidly stopped following it!

I have heard of this phenomenon. They don't do them in my local supermarket.

Chicken, do you use McKenna's cd? I think his idea is simple and will work, but I found myself pmsl when I listening to him. Instead of feeling relaxed I would wait for certain bits where he sounds particularly hilarious. Maybe I'm just not hypnotiseable.

Close your eyes just as soon as you wish ...

I didn't last time but I am this time round. Got it on my ipod and listen when I go to bed. I usually fall asleep though and wake up at 3am with earphone earache. It gets less funny sounding, honestly. The book is still where it's at for me though.

Sare I laughed the first few times of listening but then really got into it for some reason. If nothing else to sdtart with it flipping made me sleep better!

I haven't listened to the CD yet. I read the book last night and realised I am shit at visualisation. This is going to be very hard, partly because I can't just randomly eat when I am hungry at work.

    Meh.

What if the thing you want to eat isn't in your fridge?

I am also very very crap at leaving food on my plate. I can't. The waste. I just can't.
