I don't know what it is. I only have a tortoise and i know it's not that. There's a big shit in my front room ? Guess what my H found behind the piano?? A big white cat. Poor thing was a bit scared but let me pick him up and take him next door (where i recognised him from). Pity thet weren't in...

Rank! Definately more dog than cat, I'd say.

Another vote for dog. I'm still at a loss as to how it got in though. Bad luck that you have a cream coloured carpet.

    Looks like my cat's poo

One does delicate little ones, but my big (baby) cat does ones just like that. You'd be less inclined to see a cat sneak in too - dogs make too much noise

    Oooh Spring - I shouldn't be laughing, but I am ?.

I have no idea what could have 'left that' behind. I hope you do find out though.

I'm going to go against the majority and say that it's a cat.

If you left your door open while you had a delivery yesterday, the nosey little bugger probably crept in for a sneaky look around and then got stuck inside when you shut the door. It's probably hiding somewhere, totally terrified and unable to get out. I'd leave a big window open if you can and sit quietly somewhere in another room close by and let it get itself out. Failing that, ask around your neighbours to see if any of their cats have been AWOL overnight.

Another vote for cat - looks like what I used to have to clear up when my senile old moggie had got himself confused and caught short.

This thread is randomly hilarious but very odd about the poo!

was it pest man or Scatman? ?

Whatever made it probably wasn't very big so you'd no doubt be quite safe in the house and if the smell really started to get to you you could always clean the mess up? ?

I wanted to get it looked at first. For someone who doesn't own something that would do this, there would be no point in me cleaning it up before i asked someone what might have done it.

The guy has now been, obviously ruled out mice or rats and said it could be cat, dog, fox or badger!

He thinks whatever it is is still in the house though

Is he going to try and 'find' the animal if he thinks it is still in the house or is that left for you to do?

Dog wouldn't stay hidden for long so if it's stil there it's more likely to be cat, fox or badger I'd think? Are there many places it could hide? I only say this because in my house there are very few places where an animal could hide away so we would probably find it quite quickly....

Did pest man clean up the poo for you?!

In general foxes and badgers absolutely reek + they're not so used to being indoors so I'm guessing if its either of those you'll know about it pretty soon if not from the smell then from the crashing noises.

Is it wrong that in an odd sort of a way I'm slightly jealous, I used to be the kid rescuing birds and mice my cats had caught and trying to usher random animals into the house from the garden to have as 'pets'. I probably would have named it by now! ?

Fox poo round here is black, a bit like hedgehogs...unless you've got a very crafty badger I'd rule that out, plus you'd really smell it if it was a foxy.

To me that reeks of kitty cat, Have you checked behind the sofa etc... it's on a sneaky poo mission now!

Mwnci you're more than welcome to come and rescue what ever it is ?

He thinks it's in my house because the only time we left the door open was for a shopping delivery which took all of 5 minutes so he thinks it came in to have a nose and then got shut in. It then obviously needed the toilet ?

You beat me to it, I was just about to edit to say I'd be naming the Guerrilla Badger rather than the poo

Checked behind the sofas so going to check the rest of the house. Don't want to scare whatever it is so i've been sat here trying to listen.

Hep there are places for it to hide so it's a case of looking everywhere.
