Something old, Something new etc

(Claire), 18 May, 2011 at 16:48 Posted on Planning 0 25

What are you having for these, my something old will be my honora pearl earings, I've had forever and never worn, something borrowed is my MIL's tripple pearl bracelet, something new between the dress, shoes, underwear, veil that's pretty much covered, and then somehting blue will just be the blue in my garter, I did want to think of something a bit different for the blue bit but I couldnt really think of anything, just wondering what you all had/having for yours?

My something old is also my something blue. My dad's partner managed to accidently wash one of his white hankies in a dark wash and it has turned blue! Fantastic! And it is a standing tradition that whenever i go out with my dad he always carries a spare hanky that i normally end up pinching. You can guess what his traditional xmas and birthday presents are.

Anyway sorry i've gone off track a bit. My something new will be my dress, veil, shoes etc but i am struggling with my something borrowed at the moment.

New - most things, dress, accessories etc

Borrowed - borrowing my sister's garter

Blue - most things! It's both mine and OH's favourite colour, my engagement ring has sapphires in it, BMs will be in blue etc

Old - this is where I'm a bit stuck. I guess by then my sister's garter will be old, but I'd like to find something better.

Old - my Mum's necklace that she wore on her wedding day, if she can find it

    New - dress

Borrowed - MIL2B's garter, again, if she can find it (although am thinking that maybe this is a bit weird to be wearing MIL2Bs garter!?!?)

Blue - nothing yet (TBC!) but possibly me and my bridesmaids as getting wed in December so could be pretty chilly...

My something Old is a Silver Six Pence from 1951 so that it's exactly 50 years old for the wedding that my Chief Bridesmaid got specially for me (it was her idea)

My something new is pretty much everything I am wearing

My something borrowed is the ONLY one that I have NOTHING for lol!

My something blue is my garter I got when I was in LA (USA) in Victoria Secret which is lovely and has blue in it Smiley smile

Old & Blue- an opal ring my nan gave me

    new- dress

borrowed- didnt really have one but a friend gave me a lucky sixpence and she is geting marrie din Dec, so i decided to gve it back to her and use that as my borrowed!

stangel the box of the sixpence says that the father of the bride should place it in her left shoe for luck and then has "something old something new, something borrowed, something blue and a lucky sixpence for your shoe!"

id never heard that version b4!

I make and sell these charms for £5 with Swarovski Crystals. People generally hook them to their flowers or in the corset laces. The hearts are available for a bracelet as well and I add blue swarovski crystals to jewellery orders for free. x

I'm half-way there - I've got "new" take your pick from Dress, Tiara, Veil or Jewellery and "old" my Nan's oridginal wedding ring.

Can't think of blue and borrowed - my language could be blue when I'm shoe-horned into my dress.

    Mine runs like this:

Old - my necklace - it was a present to my grandmother sometime in the late 1930's early 1940's - wartime, anyway.

new - pretty much everything else!

Broowed - having a panic about this at the momment, don't have anything borrowed

blue - am planning on having a blue pedicure the day before...

    I also have a sixpence.

Don't know what I'm going to borrow though - bit of a worry as the wedding is 3 weeks away and I need a solution to the problem...
