Something strange is going on in my house!!

Mrslizziew2be, 4 August, 2014 at 15:23 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 28

I just want to start by saying I'm very open modes about spirits but try to see a logical side to anything first!

Anyways this week has been odd to say the least.

In the last 7-10 days we have had some odd goings on. First of all everyone was in bed in the morning. No air was getting to the kitchen. I have a long cupbored where the first 2 shelves have food an the top one has some frying pans and baking bits in. It's all up there as I never use it all and couldn't tell you the last time I used any of it. In the morning we heard a massive crash an OH asked me to see what it was ( yeah thanks love!) when I went to the kitchen and opened the 2 frying pans were stacked onto of eachother perfectly like they had been placed there not like a normal fall or drop! We did test it out and they bounced the other side of the room! Where as when I found them even the handles were lined up!

Skip to the next thing. I was home alone with the dog, the dog was with me in the living room, the kids at my parents for 2 days and I hear a kitchen cupbored slam, I wasn't spooked it was just odd as there wasn't a breeze or anything. Told OH about it when he got home but didn't think much about it.

That night I was soundo then woke up around 1am and I could feel someone breathing in my ear then inward like a child laughing! I sat built up right thinking my daughter was awake... But both kids were at my mums! Now I was fully awake by time the sensation on my ear started!

Nothing happened for a day or so but then I was cooking OH dinner and I could of swarm he was standing in the doorway to my fair right while I was at the cooker, went to turn to say hi and he hasn't home, infact there was nothing there.

The next thing that happened is really odd. When my kids were away I was texting my best friend tryin to sort Her out an outfit for my hen and I found a horrible dress and sent it to Her as I joke. When I went to pick the kids up from my parents I was telling my mum about this dress, went on my phone and the whole conversation from that day had gone between myself and my best friend! I could understand if I'd been round the kids as Our youngest plays with my phone... But they hadn't been home!

Then come to last night. All 4 of us had been at my best friends birthday BBQ if had a couple of glasses of wine so I was soundo when I went to sleep at 00:30, come 1am OH is shaking me to wake me up to tell me something's in the kitchen and how did I not hear it! He ran downstairs to discover our bin had been raided, 2 nappies on the floor and 4 bits of normal rubbish! He put it all back in there and as we sat up for a little while we heard it again, he went down again but couldn't see anything that had moved this time.

He went back to sleep after a while and I tried but couldn't as I was awake by then and around an hour later heard really slow footsteps up our stairs! Our stairs creek and go up the middle of our house so you can always hear when someone's walking up them! But whatever I was only came aroud half way.

In the time all these things have been happening our dog has been randomly barking in the middle of the night!

I dont feel frightened of the ongoings in this house but it's starting to get to my OH who's normally such a mocho 'I'm not scarred of anything' man!

What would you do? I'm not selling the house because the locations perfect and I think it would be really drastic to do that over the latest activity as there's always been some form just not so much in such a small amount of time!

My response is that to consider moving after a week of random events is a bit extreme to say the least.

I think the main issue here is that a number of things have happened which are unusual but because they have happened together it is easier to conjur up a larger picture of something.

I have lots of unusual things happen in my house but I have two children, three cats and a busy lifestyle that gives me a poor memory! And because we have windows open due to the hot weather there are unusual air currents in the house.

Humans have a survival instinct that allows us to pick up patterns and see danger (even when it is not there) as a protection drive. It does mean we often are able to see things that aren't actually there (most commonly pictures of Jesus in toast).

Either that or you have built up negative energies really fast and your house is now being visited by a poltergeist.

I'm such a wimp when it comes to this sort of thing that I'd be out of the house like a shot! How long have you lived there and how old is the house? Could you have mice in the house? That would explain some of it. I think if things like this start to happen we're much more aware of other events that we would usually brush off as nothing.

How long have you lived there? When I first moved into our flat I felt a bit unsettled and I did a space clearing ritual. Yes it's hippy nonsense but psychologically I felt better afterwards.

Do you have a downstairs bathroom? Moving away from the paranormal side of things here, could you have a rat or something in your house??

Wow! I don't have any advice but I love stuff like this! Have you tried taking photos or leaving a camera running to see if anything shows up? We don't really have anything strange happen in our house but there is a presence on the stairs and in the kitchen...we both hear it, and feel someone behind us in the kitchen. A couple of times I have been home alone, and heard (what I thought was) OH come up the stairs and clear his throat...both times there was no one there. We also see our two rats who we lost a couple of years ago running around the floor quite a bit, and feel them sitting on our feet. I would think I was mad if OH didn't see them too. They freak out our current rats, they sit and stare at a spot on the floor and one night Archie (the wussy one!) point blank refused to go through the cage door, just froze and stared. We saw the ghost rats that night.

The only ghost I have got on camera though was in my parents house when I got a picture of my granddad looking through a window at the camera. They don't have any weird activity though.

Thank you for your realises. I'm defiantly NOT selling this house, we haven't spoken about it just wanted to put that out there before someone put 'move' haha!

we've lived here around 3 years but a woman who live here in the past did due in our bedroom (nice ey?)! The house is only around 50 years old.

We have no mice or rats, trust me we looked and had no sign of anything.

Like I said I'm pretty open minded about everything and do try to have a logical explanation but this time I just don't have one! It could be my mind putting 1 and 1 together and coming up with 7! Although I hadn't really put all of it together until last night.

Yes we do have a downstairs loo but it's got an outside lock for when it's not in use as the dog has a ha habbit of eating the loo roll and drinking out the loo. So at night it's locked and nothing can get out from the inside.

That's a really good point. They can get into the wall space and fit through the tiniest of spaces. They are superb climbers so could easily knock something off a shelf that may have become unstable over time.

That's an important point. They are lots of rituals we do to make ourselves feel better and can be very helpful.

Have you had any significant change in the house recently? My gran lived in her house for years, then had a ghost turn up at the same time as a guest arrived, then it left when she left!

In Bill Bryson's book Home there is a fantastic story in a part about rats and mice. A shop found that rats were stealing their eggs during the night but couldn't work out how they were doing it, so they set up a camera. A rat would appear, climb on top of an egg and hug it with all fours, then roll onto its back. Another rat would appear and drag the egg-hugging rat off by grabbing its tail in its teeth. They are so resourceful Smiley smile

We have a little old man who used to live in the cellar until we decorated it so my son could use it as a bedroom. That seemed to irritate the old fella so now he slams doors or opens them at odd moments. We usually just tell him to be quiet and he slips away. We know when he's going to be a bit active because we see him go up the stairs but he isn't much trouble really, just a bit grumpy!

My parents onced had some sort of blessing in their house as they had a break in but tree was no evidence of it being human as the only thing damaged was a huge teddy the size of my brother who was 5 and the little filler balls didn't go past his bedroom door way. So tey had the house blessed and all was ok so going to find out how I go about getting one done!

The only major things I can think of is we decorated downstairs a few months back, the wedding is this month but that's about it... All is normal otherwise!

I only have a cropped image on my work computer but if you look to the top of the door you can see a white shadow which is his face if I zoom in and enhance it. The rest of the original photo has my mum in it and there are loads of energy lines going from the top of the door to her, like he is feeding off her energy. I'll post the whole pic if I can find a copy.

    I can't see it ☹️

I took this photo of my daughter which I think looks like someone is standing behind her. It's only the lighting and the flash which makes it look like that but it's dead creepy.

A couple of years ago I got strange goings on in my house. I used to feel someone sitting on my bed. I also heard someone coming up stairs when I was alone. It freeaked me out a bit. The someone asked if I had any stress in my life and I admitted I was going through a stressful period. The brain is a strange thing and does add things up and get way above the wrong answer. Once the stress stopped so did my phantom visitor. It may just be you are both worrying about forth coming wedding etc and making much of what you would otherwise explain away as nothing.

    That is creepy!

On mine, look at the top of the glass in the middle. There's a white patch. That's the top of his head (he was bald). When I enhanced it I could see his eyes and everything).

Something similar happened to a lady on another forum that I use, she had a rat come up the downstairs loo, push the lid up and get into the kitchen where it managed to open the bread box, get into cupboards and make a nest in the stack of saucepans!

Get some cameras so that we can see Smiley smile

Well nothing happened last nigh whoop Smiley smile

OH did stay up till around 2 watching the football and the dog stayed by my sons bedroom door but I'm sure he only done that because my niece was over sharing my sons bed!

Hopefully the wise words from you all saying it's stress an it will go away has helped. Although I do still find it odd both OH and I heard the same things at the same time but hopefully there is a normal explanation for it!

We bought this house off of FMIL and when her sons were in there teens a stero system that wasn't plugged in started blasting music really loud... In what is now our bedroom! Although MIl has loads more stories I'm hopeing it all moved out with her ha!

I've seen my old dog before, there was no else in the house at the time and I had one of those beaded door curtains. I didn't have my windows open (I don't like spiders coming in) and then all of a sudden the beads moved and I saw a black dog walk through and past my radiator. I did check the upstairs windows and there wasn't any open.

Ive also seen a white westie which belonged to the previous family who owned my parents house, we've been here 11 years and the westie was 5 when we got the house, so seeing it made sense - it'd be about 15 years old.

My parents also see their old dog, te dog was a born protector when he was alive, and after he died they would see him passing the upstairs landing!

Also my mum lost a baby when she was 6 months pregnant before she met my dad and she see's the girl she named Sam as the adult she would be now. Talking to my grandad in their kitchen she asked for herself and my grandad to have some privacy, myself and my sister were in our bedroom so she must of been seein and talking to Sam!

The oddest thing Iv seen is a woman's face come out of the air like 3d effect, the lady was wearing a veil. I lost the plot a bit and started crying just sat there shaking and tearing up. My parents asked what was wrong so I told them, for them to point out what I'd seen is the same as the picture of my late nan that's on the fire place! So that was really odd, the face was there for a good 10 seconds then slowly started vanishing again!
