Somewhere to drink near Kings Cross?

hazel, 13 July, 2009 at 19:39 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

I need to meet some friends near Kings Cross for a drink. Can you suggest somewhere good? We'll all have luggage so space would be nice though we could leave it in the left luggage office I guess.

I know you probably want somewhere outside the sterile station environment, but the new st pancras is fabulous- theres the champayne bar as well as some lovely cafe/ bar type places. I really want to try the oyster bar too.

Otherwise Dollar in exmouth square is fab in a totally OTT way- its owned by the same people as beach blanket babylon. The cocktails are great.

I'd completely forgotten the champagne bar. Chances of getting blokey aussie bloke in are slim but there's got to be some chance right?! ?

Ok hes maybe best not suited to Dollar either?

If you do go to St Pancras, check out The cake shops! they have lots of businesses who come in from Paris/ Bussels everyday with their wares. tis fab.

The Big Chill bar is just up the road from the station, but could get busy depending what time of day you're there. It's nice on the roof terrace there. There are a few bars on Caledonian Rd nr the station. Shame the roller disco has closed down - perfect for a suitcase on wheels!

Hello Hyacinth! I'm fine thanks, moving to the suburbs next month, eek! (well somewhere near Crystal Palace). How are you? You're no longer my brother's neighbour are you? How's the Good Life going for you?

I went to the Cross Kings last week. It's a mixture of "wannabe hippy/agnes dean/pixie geldof mummy is paying" clientele, with dirty loos, good beer, ok cheap and healthy/stodgy food and sticky floors.

I'm not sure I'd recommend it unless you want beer/cheap food and even then it's only because there is nowhere at Kings X

Just realized it's the big chill house there, the bar is in east London (not a huge difference but didn't want to cause confusion...) http://www.bigchill.net/house/info. It is the one with the nice roof terrace though ?

The Big Chill is fun but can get busy. The Ruby Lounge and St Chad's are also quite cool, or for more of a tarted up pub type vibe Driver on Cally Rd is nice. You could also try Camino - it's a restaurant but with a fab roomy bar with tapas bar snacks.

Or if Eastern European strippers are your thing there's the Flying Scotsman - inspiration for the toilet scene in Trainspotting. ?
