We don't have a song as such, but whenever I hear the song "Hollow crown" by Architects i'm reminded of OH. I don't imagine it's a song many people are familiar with, so if anyone fancies a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1ixsLWFC5o

The reasons behind it aren't the most upbeat or happy in the world but it's such a special song to me now.

OH contracted bacterial meningitis a few years ago and almost died. He was in an induced coma for a while. It was just horrific Smiley sad

After 5 solid days with no sleep and without leaving his bedside for fear he was going to die on me at any minute I was desperate for some kind of response from him. You always see in films how people magically open their eyes when you talk to them and so on and it just wasn't like that at all. I played him some music by his favourite bands in the hope of stirring something...nothing.

When I was literally at breaking point that song came on and somehow put into words exactly what was going on in my mind at that moment. That snapped me out of my mope and made me a little more positive. By coincidence or not OH woke up the next morning and it's something that's always stuck with me.

I can't hear it without getting teary now, it takes me right back.

Always one to liven up a party me!

I did the same for oh when he was in an induced coma- put all his fav songs on- 2 weeks later he was still out of it.. but for me everytime i hear Alicia keys 'empire state of mind'' only cos it kept playing over and over at that time and i had a telly on above his bed in icu.. it takes me back to that time too- it's wierd what certain lyrics can do isnt it ?

LMFAO - Sexy and I know it reminds me of H because he and his friends go nuts whenever it comes on!!

Phil Collins - True Colours reminds me of my sister because that's the song that came on the radio when I was racing over to her bedside when she was in labour with nephew.

Avril Lavigne - Keep Holding On makes me cry everytime I hear it (even typing out the title made me aweepy) as this song came on in my car when I was rushing to the hospital to see Dad. He'd had a heart attack so that song and the lyrics are so poignant.

For some bizarre reason we both think of each other when we hear Hey There Delilah by the Plain White Ts...we can't remember why?

Also, Killers Mr Brightside...I phone him if I'm out at a club and it's on, I just leave the phone connected so he can hear it, he does the same...and if we're both out together and it plays we are atraight on the dancefloor!

All of our wedding songs- manly "Stand by Me" as it has a funny knack of being on the radio or TV when things go a bit pear shaped- its even on my personalised converse MrMini bought me for our anniversary.

The only others are Finch- Letters to you, and Biffy Clyro- Mountains, we are getting the lyrics tattooed on us at some point when the house is sorted and we have spare cash again,

Rihanna - We Found Love. Only because we change the words from 'hopeless place' to 'post off-ice' which is where we met.

Other than that any Roisin Murphy song as that was our first gig together.

Finch - Letters to you is one of ours too.

There's a song by The Script, I think it's called You won't Feel a Thing, that reminds me of him so much.

And 'Misery Business' by Paramore, it was on at a dirty nightclub with a sticky floor when we first kissed. I want to play it at the wedding, he's not too sure as one of the lines is, 'I've got him where I want him now' ha.

Rent by the Pet Shop Boys:

    You dress me up
    I'm your puppet
    You buy me things
    I love it
    You bring me food
    I need it
    You give me love
    I feed it

And look at the two of us in sympathy
    with everything we see
I never want anything, it's easy
    you buy whatever I need
But look at my hopes, look at my dreams
    the currency we've spent
I love you, you pay my rent
I love you, you pay my rent

You phoned me in the evening on hearsay
    and bought me caviar
You took me to a restaurant off Broadway
to tell me who you are
We never, ever argue, we never calculate
    the currency we've spent
I love you, you pay my rent
I love you, you pay my rent

    I'm your puppet
    I love it

And look at the two of us in sympathy
    and sometimes ecstasy
Words mean so little and money less
when you're lying next to me
But look at my hopes, look at my dreams
    the currency we've spent
I love you, you pay my rent
I love you, you pay my rent

    It's easy, it's so easy

When we met for the second time, I was a single mum and a few months into our replationship my rent was put up and I couldn't afford to pay it. Rather than me and the kids having to move, my H (who was not living with us and had barely met the kids) offered to cover the shortfall. One night we were playing Singstar with our friends and they started singing lovey dovey songs to each other and being the unromantic person that I am, I sang the above song to my H in a tongue in cheek kind of way. Obviously I didn't mean it in the context the PSB did!
