Songs that are 20 years old

HeidiHole, 14 February, 2009 at 19:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

Is this sort of thing making anyone else feel SO old?

I was listening to the Golden Hour on Friday and they played Roachford's Cuddly Toy. I love this song and nearly died when told it was 20 years old, how is that even possible?

If someone can tell me where the last 20 years have gone I'd be most grateful.

I went on itunes as soon as I got home and downloaded Personal Jesus (for some reason I only had the Johnny Cash version) and Roachford. Was a great first 30 minutes.

I discovered at work this week that me and a colleague both went to the same secondary school. I left in 1990. What did he say? He was born that year. <weeep>

Speaking of old songs...for some strange reason John Wayne is Big Leggy popped up into my brain this week.

Is it really that long ago? That is scary. I was in the upper fifth at school. So yes doing the maths that would be right. Doesn't help with the shock and worry of time flying by though.

I used to get Roachford and Bobby Brown mixed up for some reason. My Perogative?

I don't think the song has dated very much at all, I think I'm going to download it too.

Feathers, I went to see Bobby Brown at Wembley Arena when I was 15, Naff Naff jumpsuits and wallabies a go go ?

I was having a fairly chatty consultation with a nice girl this week, sorting out her pill etc. When I printed out the prescription I saw she was born in 1991. FFS.

I thought I was down with the kids, but clearly I'm actually ancient and sad.

Oh god yes. It's mortifying. I remember when I first started getting into music and looking in awe at mum & dad's copy of "Revolver" by the Beatles and saying "wow, it's 20 years old..."

Which would have been in about 1984, so 25 years ago [wail]

No1 son is smug about his retro credentials, ie knowing music that I listened to when I was older than he is now. Still, at least they had proper tunes then, not all this modern rubbish.

There's a programme on ITV at 9pm about it. I am recording it!!

The roller skate version was fabulous, especially the dramatic fall to the floor end bit ?

I was having a workout at the gym earlier this week with my Personal Trainer when a song came on - I can't even think what it was now but something from 1981 and I said, as I was dying a death on the treadmill that I hated that particular song. My PT said she didn't know what it was. I gasped when was she born and she replied ..... 1985.

    The year I left school.

At which point I nearly went arse over t!t.

Not quite as classy as Bolero on rollerskates but my friend and I used to play CHiPs on our bikes. My brother and his friends were "Bromley Vice" instead of Miami Vice, they took it a bit more seriously than us as they made id badges and everything! ?

I'm over in Meopham now but used to live in Bromley when we were younger, not quite the same as Miami!
