Just noticed a few songs that other people have mentioned.

    Hurt - christina aguilera
and Everybody Hurts by REM but a lot of it is to do with the video as well as the actual song.

Plus - You'll never walk alone - gives me goosebumps everytime and can get quite emotional.

Happy Ending by Mika. I was listening to Mika's album a couple of days after my Nan had died suddenly and as soon as this song came on I was sobbing my heart out. I think the lyrics really are about dealing with splitting up with a partner but some of them just seemed to sum up how I felt about losing my Nan.

I haven't even dared to listen to Songbird by Eva Cassidy recently because that can set me off too.

Zion by Lauren Hill and Heard 'Em Say by Kanye West both make me cry, they were played at my nephew's funeral and literally leave me sobbing.

Wires by Athlete and Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, just because of the sad stories behind the lyrics.

How To Save A Life by The Fray, remind me of my friend who died of a drugs overdose, he was a long-term user and sadly, his death wasn't a suprise to many of us, I still have my "what if?" moments though.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy, when skies are grey......................

My Grandma used to sing it to me and it makes me cry just thinking about it.

Give My Love to Rose by Johnny Cash makes me weepy for some reason. It doesn't remind me of anything, it's just really sad.

I didn't have a dad growing up so my granny (his mother) kind of stepped into that roll, a dad with a grey shampoo and set if you like. ? When I took her to the Easter service in the hospital chapel (she was devout CoS), she was dying. They sang Lord of the Dance and she sang her heart out, I sat with tears running down my face while she sang without a care in the world. I insisted we sang it at her funeral and also insisted it be sang with an Irish Folk tempo to make people smile, which it did. I still can't hear it without blubbing now though, I've been in full blown floods when adverts for Riverdance have been on the radio. ? The second which makes me cry is Charlotte Church's Pie Jesu. My cousin was upset with me at the time but I decided to ask my granny what she would like us to play at her funeral, she said "That girl with the wobbly chin? I like her song, what's it called? The upi-upi song? Play that" ? The third is the theme from Chariots of Fire; my uncle (her other son) played drums in the films and he had died a few years previously. I thought that playing Chariots of Fire would be a nice tribute to him and also for her too as she was very proud of him. It's another song that opens the floodgates though and it wasn't until a while later that I realised perhaps Chariots of Fire wasn't the most appropriate song to be played at a cremation... ?

Other songs that get me blubbing are:

John Lennon's Imagine as it reminds me of my friend who died.

Simon and Garfunkel's Like a Bridge Over Troubled Water as it reminds me of a clip on Children in Need where a man with no legs still managed to walk on tiny crutches.

REM's Everybody Hurts as they take me back to a a time when I was really very poorly.

Danny Boy and Elton John's Daniel as they remind me of my dog who was also my best friend as a teenager who couldn't leave the house. ?

I have tears in my eyes just thinking about that song ? Poor Bunnies

Another song that sets me off is 'Your having my baby' can't remember who it's by, but my Dad brought it for my Mum when she was expecting me, and it's just so, so beautiful. If I was expecting I would want someone to buy it for me as it's so lovely ?

Mrs M, Bridge Over Troubled Water gets me too, I'd forgotten about it.

There's always one episode of the X Factor live shows where someone sings it and I end up sobbing ?

Crazy by patsy cline, reminds me of Grampy.

but, X factor did me in on saturday, 2 songs that made me weep alot, and they were sung over and over, chasing cars, and first time ever i saw your face, both holding very raw memories of last year. i cried on sat night, a lot, then cheered myself up by watching the notebook from last weep.

    My god, sob fest.

I'm already feeling a bit emotional today (my nana had a stroke last night and is in acute care ?) and this has set me off ?

A good friend of mine died of cancer in April (she was only 40) and she had "Time to Say Goodbye" by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli (sp) played just as her brothers carried her coffin out and it was so movin.

My mum's only brother died suddenly in May and I told her about this song and she loved it and had it played at his funeral so I can't even bring myself to listen to it or think about it (which I'm obviously doing now) because I just get so upset.

The other ones for me are:

Love Me Tender - Elvis - played at my great auntie's funeral 17 years ago and still sets me off

A beautiful piece of instrumental music called "Albatros" - not sure who its by but that was played at my grandad's funeral because he used to love watching nature programmes and David Attenborough things so we thought it was appropriate for him.

Feeling a bit sad now ?

Thanks ktc and Mrs M ?

She's obviously in hospital but mum had promised her that she would never have to go to that particular hospital again after last time (getting sickness bug and ending up very very poorly) and now she's had to break her promise and my nana can't speak cos one side of her face isn't working and we don't know until the CT scan whether she knows what's going on - which would be worse because she'll know where she is and can't see any familiar faces ?

    Sorry, I've derailed this thread haven't I? I better go ?

    Thanks again.
