Soooo what are we all eating on the day?!?!?!

AutumnRose, 24 February, 2010 at 18:18 Posted on Planning 0 26

We went to our venue for menu tasting last night - think i'm still full from it, not good for the diet!!!

Anyway after a gorgeous meal we've decided on our menu which will be....

Goats cheese on roasted pepper

Leg of lamb (which was so tender, just perfect!) on mash with veg

White chocolate and malibu mouse - amazing!!!

And we confirmed our BBQ for the evening ?

Don't know how much i'll manage in my corset but i'll be giving it a good go!!!

We also confirmed some other bits a pieces i was fretting about so i'm feeling much more relaxed today!!

So what have you all got organised?!?!?!?!?!

MMmm - what good taste in food you have! Goats cheese and lamb ?

    We're having...

    >> Puff pastry tart with roasted vegtables, choizo and smoked mozzarella
    >> Lamb shank with mash potato, creamed leeks and carrotts
    >> Cheese board with Port
    >> Coffee with wedding cake

I'd have had goats cheese but was concious that most people don't like it so went for a safer option on the starter.

I'm feeling quite good this week. Booked my transport yesterday and today the registrar has returned my form so I can apply for my passport in my married name!! Woooooo!!

We're doing paella. One meat and one seafood. We know alot of people aren't happy with this but caterer has agreed that as she cooks everything fresh there she can easily cook something else for the fussy foodies.

The canapes are going to be tapas style i.e tostadas, tortilla and stuffed peppers etc.

Pudding is cupcakes with ice cream. It's quite informal but that suits us and our day. x

Ahhhhhhhhh Georgiebarbie yours sounds amazing too - we clearly like the same things!!!! We did have a debate about goats cheese BUT all of our close family like it and H2Bs sister had it (and it wasn't as nice) at her wedding last year and pretty much everyone ate it.

How close to wedding do you need to be to send off for new passport? I'm going to do the same (mine runs out 5months after wedding typically!!)...must look into forms for that.

vickstix i LOVE the sounds of your food, i'd be so happy to be served that at a wedding. YUM!!!!!!!

We're having smoked salmon starter with dill and lemon, rump of lamb on lyonnaise potatoes with roasted cherry tomatoes and wilted spinach and then lemon tart to finish! We had our tasting a few weeks back and it was all so yummy, I hope I'm not one of those brides who has no appetite on the day!

Now I have food envy!! I know loads of my mates don't like goats cheese so decided against it. I'm not paying money for something people won't eat... I do love the goats cheese!!

You can only apply for a passport in your married name 3 months before (it was 3 months on Monday to mine ?/ I've got the registrars forms back to confirm i've booked a wedding and i need to send that off with a passport form. I've got the form already but i've just remembered I need photos too! ?

So excited! D's booked the honeyoon in my new name! Though i'm sad that his passport will look better than mine now. We've got a fair few stamps in our passports which we're quite proud of and his will continue in the same one!! Our passports don't run out until 2014... But I wanted mine straoght away so I can see what holiday's we've been on in our married life - heehee!

GB - i had exact same thinking - i'm paying a fair bit a head so people better eat it!!! Might request any left over goats cheese in a doggy bag for the next day, lol!!!!!

Thanks for info on passport - will look into forms next months then. I can't wait to get a better photo in mine - current one is so dreadful!!!

We're having indian food! well we're both Asian so it seemed like a good option lol. samosas etc for canapes, and some spicy grilled fish and cheese for starters. and 5 types of curry with rice/naan etc. and wedding cake for desert. i am definitely not going to be eating much on the day, not a massive fan of indian restaurant food but this was half the price of any other option and we think our families will love it haha! would've loved to have a main like lamb n potatos though!!

mmmm goats cheese, i think most people will like it and it sounds quite posh lol xx

    Mmmmm it all sounds delicious!!

    We're having:

Starter Chargrilled asparagus spears wrapped in parma ham stuffed with brie & served on a baby spinach salad & sundried tomato

Main Pork & leek sausages, creamed potato, green beans & red onion marmalade

We haven't decided on a dessert as we weren't too keen on the banoffee pie or creme brulee they served so I think we'll probably have cheesecake.

Really interesting to see what everyone else s having for tehir big day.

We are meeting with our chef in 2 weeks time to try to finalise what we are going to have.

Our starter is going to be a terrine or pate of local meats.

We are gettign married in Feb next year which is venison season and the plan is that my H2B is going to stalk our main course.

Whilst our desert is probably going to be a chocolate torte I make, it was the dessert I first made for my H2B and he always pesters me for it. i am passing the recipe over to the chef.

My H2B is also quite a good fisherman so he will be out all hours during salmon season to catch our canapes.

Obviously we need a back up for everything as there is no gaurantee he will catch enough to feed te 55 people who are goign to need feed.

We are gettign married in teh middle of Dartmoor and both like the idea of using local produce and my H2B is into his country sports and it gives him a way of being involved alot more in the planning and run up to the day
