Sort of O/T - hen night in Amsterdam??!!!

penguin1977, 19 January, 2009 at 13:13 Posted on Planning 0 2

Anyone heard of a hen night in Amsterdam?! I've heard of stag nights in Amsterdam (for obvious reasons) but not hen nights. I really don't fancy it but I have been tasked with organising a hen night and this is one of the brides suggestions. I hated Amsterdam but I guess thats by the by.

Any thoughts

If it helps I actually live in the centre of Amsterdam (been here for about 9 months) so I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

I can honestly say that Amsterdam is a very beautiful city and can be anything you want it to be. Yes it does have a reputation particulaly when it comes to 'male visitors' but as a female I feel safe here although I would always be sensible and avoid the red light district and dark streets etc. when it's dark.

I suppose the time of year and the size of your party would influence what activities are open to you, sailing on the canals and riding a bike are less pleasurable in the rain and cold! Also some of the nicer bars/clubs don't like to let in big groups of foreigners just in case.

One a final note hotels here even 2/3* tend to be quite pricey around 80-100 EUR per night. I'm sure there are cheaper places if you search them out but it's something to bear in mind. Like I said it might be better to ask specific questions if you have any.

I lived in amsterdam for about 18 months and its my fav city ever! I think by living there you get away from the touristy places and get to know the good places to go - where you are not surrounded by pi**ed up Brits!

I still have friends there - I can find out the 'in' places to go if you want.
