Spa stay recomendations please!

Mrs Bass, 13 August, 2013 at 09:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

Short story- recommend me spas all around the country for a hen do!

Long story- My best mate is getting married next year and her sister has set up a FB group to start coming up with hen do ideas.

My bm organised my amazing hen do and has said she wasn’t something similar. I organised a very similar one last year so this is fine and dandy. The problem is her sister seems to have other ideas and is looking at spas that are just down the road and is looking at us staying there for the weekend, not going out on the sat night.

My BM loves going out and having a boogie to some cheesy tunes and I just cant imagine her hen do without this. She is also quite active and loves any water based activities.

Another friend and I think that it would be nice to get further away from home, perhaps to the coast where we can have some spa pampering but also some fun activities (at the beach or something like GoApe) and be able to go out on the Saturday night.

So we don’t step on the sister’s toes, we thought we’d propose somewhere with a nice spa so, recommend away. Either ones we can stay at or ones not far from cottage rentals!

Thanks!

Probably too far away for you, but St Andrews was fantastic for a recent hen do I went on (but didn't organise - hurrah!). During the day we did land yachting on the beach, had a picnic lunch then did wedding themed beach games in the afternoon. We then went out dancing that night. They also have a couple of lovely hotels that have nice spas.

How about Center Parcs? They have a spa, high ropes, water sports etc all in one place.

I've organised my bestie's hen through UK Girl thing - we're having 2 nights in a 4* hotel in bournemouth, with breakfast both days, with a spa day on the saturday that includes 2 x treatments and a 2 course lunch for £190.

they do them all over and they set up a payment plan so everyone logs in a pays their own balance. Its been a godsend, I havent been out of pocket etc x

She would love the sugar hut!! ha ha!

ATB that sounds amazing! would have to gauge how far everyone wants to travel though!

Center parcs has been suggested and regected (by the bride) already!

that sounds fab Rod! i used Acacia last year and they were brilliant but sorting out the finances myself was a total nightmare!!!

I asked the bride to give me 5 hen do loves and 5 hen do hates and its pretty much what we thought, coast, water activites, cocktails, spa!

Ive suggested a cottage by the coast, a chef fri night, beach sat for picnic & activites, out sat night and spa sunday!

Just need to find the right location! :-)

ATB- how was St andrews for a night out?!

Yes it may be a bit of a trek for you all! It's ok for a night out - a mix of old man's pubs and a couple of Yates type places. Nothing really cool though (may be but we never were in them). Club wise there is one, which was a mix of students and hen parties just playing chart music, nothing fantastic but not the worst I've been in either!

If you decide on some beach games I'll think of what we played. We had a company do it for us, but it was all pretty easy and could have been done ourselves! Things like tossing the bouquet at a target etc.

    Hello,

I'm unsure where you are based, I have never been but it looks good https://www.ribbyhall.co.uk/spa-hotel/ they also have other accommodation on site or you are not far from Blackpool for staying / cheesy night out. I am a fan of the center parcs spas and think this may be a little similar to that spa

    Hello!

I'm having a spa weekend for my hen do in Stratford upon Avon. Its at the QHotel (several round the country offering similar packages) and includes 2 spa treatments, lunch, 3 course dinner, accommodation and breakfast for £119!! We are also planning a bit of rowing/punting on the river etc but there are water activities, I think, in Stratford too.

I hope you find somewhere you all agree on!! xxx

Sat day we had someone come around for pampering

Deganwy quays hotel Conwy- 0r tre ysgawen over on anglsey and some lovely beaches (Rhosneigr or treaddur bay ) to go to and do activities on- and if your over in Anglesey then you can cross over the bridge onto the mailnland on go do this ( im yet to go on it) https://www.zipworld.co.uk/ a long zipwire over a dis-used quarry that goes at 100mph ?

oooh and in conwy there is a lovely pub called 'signatures' that has lovely food- and is literally a 5 min taxi job from hotel to Conwy, and or a 10 min drive into Llandudno.. in Anglesy I would say you would need to get to Bangor a 20 min taxi job from the hotel for a night out... or if you want a cottage then I can recommend :https://www.parciau.co.uk/ they are holiday cottages on the farm I work at and Is bang in the middle of snowdownia

Second Tre-Ysgawen. Stayed there a couple of weeks ago for our anniversary and loved it. If you don't stay, there's plenty of cottage accommodation on the island, plus some lovely beaches. No high ropes etc, but you're only 30mins from the heart of Snowdonia with loads of activity providers (climbing, kayaking etc).

What about go ape in Dorset? We went there on a hen a while back and the others lived it (me not so much!) it's in three legged cross.

its very near Bournemouth for a cheesey night out, there is a hotel in the new forest called careys manor that has a lovely spa that does packages as well. Could be with a look?
