Spanx

Spanx are not very comfortable and a wedding dress is heavy enough without more layers on under neath. It's also a bit more difficult to pee when you are trying to lift your dress up etc and the Spanx I have are the full on ones with only a wee gap to pee through and it would have been impossible to open pee part open, hold dress up, move over loo so not to stand over dress etc! lol

Do you have a corset dress? If you do Spanx wouldn't do any good because the corset will be tight enough.

I have to say I disagree with Lynsey.

I wore Spanx under my dress and they did make a difference to the smooth lines and fit of my dress and were also very comfortable. I bought the full leg ones as they didnt have the shorter leg ones in stock when they were on offer in JL and I didnt have to 'open' the wee gap, when I sat on the loo it opened naturally so I didnt have to physically pull it apart ! Sorry if that was tmi lol !

Thanks Niche79 - i think i have bought the same ones as you - longer legged (mid thigh i think) and they have a double gusset which looks as though it would open on its own if i sat down on the loo! I havent tried them on yet as they wouldnt let you in Debenhams (rubbish) as they are non-returnable. But hoping they do the trick!

Lynsey - no, my dress isnt corseted and isn't a heavy fabric either (lacy) so i dont think it'll make me too hot, hopefully!

Anyway, I will try the new spanx on tonight and see what the outcome is! Wish me luck getting them on!!

I now have 3 sets of undies for my dress one of which is those spanx ! I didn't think they did alot tbh but I really need to try them with my fitting and decide ! I will have to get them switched bfore the boudoir though if I wear them and the stockings will go out the window !

I regularly wear spanx. My dress was fitted so I wore full spanx (under your bust to the knee). I can never do the whole peeing through a whole thing - always pull them down.

They looked fab but the problem did come when I tried to go to the loo - as the dress was tight on the bust/stomach I couldn't pull them back up so my BM had to undo my dress, pull them up and fasten my dress again, not great. Needless to say I only went to the loo once!

I wore spanx under my dress too, the ones that go from under bust to mid thigh & although it was a little tricky to wriggle them down when I pulled them back up I couldn't do it without undoing the dress so I just folded it down so it was at my waist rather than under my bust iykwim? I found this far more comfortable than I would have stockings, suspenders & all that malarky!

Well, an update for you... I tried them on (these were also the under the bust to mid thigh ones) and they actually felt v comfy so think I will give them a go... Not sure about the peeing part - will prob pull them down as the 'hole' is very small!! If when i try them on with my dress they dont make much difference, then will not bother with them - but I think they will as they def seemed to suck me in a bit more, made my silouette a lot smoother IYKWIM.

I found spanx too hot and bulky to wear under my dress. I've opted for some magic shape tights from M & S! (Not very sexy!!) They give the most amazing silouette and for £6 a pair are amazing!
