Speaking of Invitations...

avintagebride, 27 January, 2011 at 22:32 Posted on Planning 0 13

When should I send them out, and what dead line should I put on the RSVP's?

My Wedding is 31st March 2012

Thanks!

I think it's personal preference. We are getting married on 26th November, we are sending out our invites end of June time, but this is because our venue needs confirmed numbers by the end of September and we are offering overnight accomodation which the venue likes booking as early as possible. Also I'm consious that we will be starting with the run off xmas parties etc around that time so wanted to get the invites out early.

I'm sending mine out at the end of April beginning of may & we're getting married at the end of July....

Our venue needs to know numbers 4 weeks prior to the wedding but because ive got a big family from different places in the UK we thought it would be better if we sent them early so we dont need to worry to much if someone doesnt get back to us ASAP....its entirely up to you! x

As you are getting married in March which is generally classed as off season then you can send them out in January. This all depends on who is coming to your Wedding though. If you have people that are going to have to travel and may have to stay over night then you need to give them as much notice as possible. If you are getting married on a weekday then again, send them out much sooner.

You also need to consider when you need to give final numbers to venues, reception etc as this is an important factor. Then just work back from there.

The other thing to consider is if people can not attend the day for some reason, are you going to upgrade people from the evening to the day? If so then you will definitely need to send out your invitations earlier to allow time to upgrade evening guests.

So in answer to your question, determine the RSVP date based on your suppliers and then I would work back 6+ weeks (depending on the other factors mentioned).

    Hope that helps

    Nat

Well just thought feb gives you 2 months which is pretty standard for weddings I've been to but maybe its cos they have sent out save the date cards first so everyone is already aware of the date anyway

We can't send our invites out until we have had our meeting with the caterers which isn't going to be until around 8 weeks before the wedding. But we did send out STDs as we are having a weekday wedding

DATE TWIN!!!!! Well, I plan on sending out the Save the Dates in April. That way, people get loads of notice and they can't confuse it ... if I sent them earlier, they might think it's for March this year. I am thinking of sending the invitations out in mid / late January. Where are you getting married by the way? x

I'm having a church wedding in York and then onto the reception at the Merchant Adventurers Hall which has a really lovely atmosphere. I am so enjoying planning everything ... can't quite decide on the invitations and save the dates though. I think that it might take me until April to sort them!

How are you getting on with things?

I sent mine out this weekend. I know 4 months is quite far in advance but as i'm getting married on a bank holiday weekend I thought people would have planned things already for then, so have asked for RSVPs to be back by May 1st, so they have 3 months to get back to me.

I can't believe someone suggested sending them so late! I would say send them 3 months or so in advance (maybe more). The caterer will tell you when they should RSVP by, but bear in mind some people will lead you a merry dance and not RSVP on time, so you should tell them to RSVP 2 weeks before you need it!
