Special car - but not for BMs???

Kentish Gal, 2 June, 2013 at 23:30 Posted on Planning 0 13

I said no cars. But I'm thinking of getting shot of something else in the budget and there's a gorgeous old Bentley locally that I like. We were just going to have black cabs. The Bentley would surprise H2B and take him to venue, and then come back and collect me and my boy. The 3 BM's wouldn't fit in so would still be in a black cab. That feels a bit mean. I can't afford 2 cars. Would you scrap the idea, or go for it?

Go for it.............its your day so why shouldn't you have a special memory? Alternative to BM's getting a taxi to the venue would be to ask a friend with a nice car to ribbon it up and collect the bridesmaids but I don't think a taxi is mean!

OH and I can only afford one car and it's taking me, my Gramps and my Mum to the church, my step dad is taking the TOG, Gran and 2 bridesmaids.

I think you should go for it for you, your OH and boy on your special day.

I see this quite alot and is fairly normal, as has been said one of the bridesmaids other halfs usualy has the job, add some ribbions and you are away.

When it is "special car" it is mostly the same one as you so for you you it will need 3 trips

Appreciate the replies! There's not really a middle ground for the BMs, it's just a cab! The venue and timings etc and no parking at venue and so on means we can't ask someone else to drive them. I need to decide today and am still no further along. It's a busy day at work so I'll just see how I feel at 6pm and go with that. £200 on a budget that got blown months ago is a lot of pennies! That's sweet of them. My bm's were chucked in my dads people carrier! They diddnt seem to mind.

Ive never had a special car when I was a bm either. I wouldn't worry about it op.

If the bridesmaids options are to get a black cab and you to also get a black cab or for them to get a black cab and you get a smarter wedding car surely it doesn't matter, either way they will be in a black cab! I would go with the car that you really want, you are the bride after all Smiley smile

I wouldnt even bother with the special for you- as when you arive no one will be there to see you as they will all be usherd in to the room, no one will see it.

We're also doing this! Not mean in the slightest...

there are 5 bmssowere having a small minibus to take the bms and mob and mog to the church as I thought it may be a nice touch for them all to leave together. This also give opportunity for a couple of people who haven't got a lift to the venue to jump in after the ceremony....! Smiley smile

were just going to trim the minibus up with ribbons ect so it looks the part ?

This happens a lot of the time, but it's worth checking, just to see if the car could drop the B/M's off, before it comes to collect you.

It'll take a bit more planning, but it may be a way to get around it?

Ha, you're too nice. My BMs went in the CBM's Mum's car. I had a Rolls.

I have ended up taking them plenty of times before when things have not gone to plan with hair and makeup and they are running late - leaving no time for the plan of the Brides car making 2 trips which was the 1st with Mum and Bridesmaids and then back for Bride and Dad.

Exactly this. One thing I wish I hadn't spent money on was a car.

It's your wedding! Surprise your H2B and travel in style, leave BMs in cabs. So what if they do say something (which I highly doubt) this is your special day!!!
