Special Touches for Evening Reception

cinnamonfairy, 21 August, 2012 at 10:23 Posted on Planning 0 8

I know that this may get covered quite a bit, but thought I would see if anyone has any other suggestions.

At the moment for our guests, we are looking to do:

Pashmina Basket, Flip Flop Basket, Bathroom Baskets.

Has anyone got any other suggestions for what else we could provide for our guests (especially for the men, as what we are doing already seems a little bit woman-oriented)?

A little bit of background on the venue: the room we are having the reception in has two sets of double doors leading to a grass/patio area with table and chairs. (left hand side of picture), so we are hoping that people will use this area, without being too cut off from the main activity inside.

The bar (right hand side of pic) has seating, and is where the evening hog roast will be served. We also have use of another room attached to a bar, which can be set up with a pool table/ping pong table - the only thing I'm worried about by setting this up is that people might hole themselves up in there!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Can I ask what Bathroom baskets, flip flop baskets & pashmina baskets are? Are they gifts for all your guests? x

We're having a basket full of flip flops for guests to take when they have sore feet from wearing heels all day, pashmina basket for if guests get a little chilly, and putting baskets in the bathroom full of toiletries for guests to use to freshen up etc.

ETA - cigar bar sounds like a fab idea. Will run that past the OH.

A basket of flipflops/pashminas for guests to get comfy/warm later on in the evening. All my flipflops were taken away (as I intended - only a £1 a pair in Primarni). I didn't do pashminas but suspect guests will take them away.

Unfortunately for my OH, he can't ban me from Hitched at work!

I've not mentioned about having these extra little bits for the guest yet. I might just get them and say that they magically appeared on the day!

Are you thinking of entertainment stuff? I've been to two weddings with casino tables which everyone loved. I do think you're worry about people holing up in a fun room is valid. This happened at one of the casino weddings. There are so many entertainment options out there. I've never heard of a humidor but it sounds great. How do you find one?
