Spectacle dilemma!

Ladykake, 10 August, 2014 at 22:16 Posted on Planning 0 7

I wonder if you can help me in my dithering mess!

I usually wear glasses, day in day out, but occasionally I will venture into lenses - particularly for a night out when I 'put on my face!' however I'm not not sure whether I should wear my glasses on our wedding day or not.

I've asked OH for his opinion and he is about as useful as a chocolate teapot! He says do what you're comfy in....! I'm comfy in both... most people I know will have seen me with and without glasses.

I guess I will feel a bit more exposed without glasses, but hoping it will show my make up off? What I am frightened of happening is looking back at pictures going.. I should/shouldn't have worn them!!

I've googled images and had a bout on Pinterest -but still in a bit of a tizz!

Can any spectacle beauty's give me any advice and maybe a flash?!

Hi, I will be wearing my glasses. I did think about contacts but I decided against it as my eyes can feel itchy and what with wearing makeup I don;t want to be rubbing my eyes.

I am hoping that I have made the right decision. I am not sure if I can see my makeup when wearing my glasses but my friend said that she could see the make up, and that it made my eyes pop more. My OH also said either will be fine.

Can you wear your lenses for a long time? As you have to put them in before your make up is done ,you will have been wearing for a couple hours before you have even got to the ceremony.

I'm meant to wear glasses for reading but don't because I'm sure my eyesight is ok!

Anyway my mum does most the time, but wen she has an event to go to she wears contacts as if there's photos being taken the flats seems to play up with the glass in the glasses. So if I was you I'd go contacts.

I wear lenses usually 5 days a week and the other 2 I wear glasses to give my eyes a break. There was never any question for me though about what to wear on the day. I feel far more confident in my lenses and of course then everyone would be able to see the fab job my MOH did with my eye make up.

You could always wear your lenses and if you feel uncomfortable change into your glasses?

I wear contact lenses most days but can never wear them for longer than around 12 hours as my eyes get really dry and tired if I wear them for too long. I was planning to wear lenses but take my glasses too and perhaps swap just after the first dance as everyone will be drunk by then and the photographer will have gone!

I only rarely wear my lenses, and to be honest i've flicked back through pictures and i feel like i don't look like "me" without my glasses. I suppose i've worn them for 98% days since i was 11, and i want to look like me (although a better version hahaha) on my wedding pics so i shall be sticking to glasses.

Like someone else said, i also can't wear them much longer than 10-12 hours so i would have to change them anyway so it saves a faff for me later on

I wear glasses the vast majority of the time, mostly because my eyes dry out too quickly if I wear my contact lenses at work. I still wore lenses on my wedding day though, I was much happier that way. Plus I find if it's hot, my glasses make my face feel even more sweaty and I didn't want that!

H stayed in his glasses though.

I wear glasses. I've never tried lenses as I think I'd really struggle getting them out. Sometimes, mainly at weekends or for nights out when I'm not expecting to drive/read/use a computer I don't bother putting them on so most people have seen me without them.

I won't be wearing my specs on our wedding day though. I prefer how I look without them and can see well enough with out them to not walk into anything so hopefully it will be OK.

Maybe if you're having hair/make-up trials take them with you to try it out both ways and see what you prefer.

I wear glasses all the time, have done since I was 5, and don't like the idea of contact lenses at all (the whole touching your own eyes thing... ick)

However, being long-sighted (and by slow process of getting more short-sighted as I get older, approaching "normal" now!!) I can get away without wearing them when I want to, and do so for sports and nights out.

I therefore won't be wearing specs for my wedding.

But I've seen some lovely pictures of people who did decide to wear their specs, and www.bridaleyewear.co.uk might give you some ideas? You could also tie in the colour of your frames to your bridesmaids' dresses or flowers if you fancy a colour pop.
