Spray Tanning

meggles24, 16 April, 2010 at 11:34 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hey girls-

Im thinking of going for a spray tan for the big day- but id like to try it out soon just to make sure it goes ok!

I work in Central london- and am really keen to go for a st tropez spray tab- does anyone know how i go about finding a place that does it- or know of a place themselves they can recommend?

I cant seem to come up with much on google!

xx

I don't have any recs near you, but I know my local waxing place does it so try googling that and give them a call to see if they do it.

If you go to yell.com and search for St Tropez and then your area, it should come up with a list of salons, it tells you in some of the descriptions if they do st tropez.

just be careful as I've heard of tan coming off on the dress and it might never come out. So a trial would be a good idea and just see how it is around the underarms. My photographer has told me he really doesnt like fake tan in the pics.

As much as I don't like goingh on the sunbed I think I'm going to have grit my teeth and bear it before my wedding. I'll just use plenty of SPF!!!

You can get it done in Selfridges, I think.

Just make sure you exfoliate well and you should be fine in terms of it coming off on your dress.

I'd avoid sunbeds like the plague though. They age your skin, give you wrinkles and increase your risk of skin cancer. Not worth it just for a few photos as far as I'm concerned!

    Cat wee,

    biscuits,

    cornflakes....

....is what I've been told I smell like, by the OH on the odd occasion that I've worn fake-tan. I can safely say that I wont be fake-tanning for the big day!!

a wee plug for my work there!!!

i agree with OLL's H2B, most sray tans make stink of cat wee or digestive biscuits! im a fake bake kinda gal - its the least smelly IMO! also, in my experience fake bake doesnt stain your clothes, having said that i haven't had it on with a wedding dress though!!

it might be an idea to use a gradual build up tan cream like johnsons, if you just want a healthy glow for the day....

The Dove stuff seems to smell less biscuity than the Johnsons stuff too.

If you go for a St Tropez be very very careful as when i have had one in the past - think it looked way too false. A fake tan is good, i think if you have that complexion, but if you are very pale then i would be very careful about trying it out - especially St Tropez.

If you do decide to go for a trial - please exfoliate completely - especially elbows, under arms, hands (have had a horrible experience, on my hen, one hand was browner then the other!! ohh it was a great laugh for everyone else!!!) and feet!!!

    xx

Hmm that's odd. I've always found St Tropez to be one of the most natural. I like fake bake, but it is quite dark, and as a very pale girl, I prefer st tropez cos you can choose what level you have it on. Which did you go for IB?

My experience of a spray wasn't good, had it done 24 hours before I wanted to show it off but it disappeared in the shower so won't be having another one. I have heard other people say it stains the dress.

My local salon does a st tropez bake type tan that I'm going to try as I would rather look pale and pasty than waste my money on another spray tan

    Hi

dont want to put a damper on spray tans but i work in a dry cleaners and spray tan does NOT come out. I have lost count of the amount gutted new brides who have hoped to either sell their dresses on or pass them down only to discover the marks will not come out!

And at a cost of between £75 and £120 its a lot to pay for not very good results. sorry to be the bearer of this news but thought that you ought to know

    xx

My plan had been to use the sunbeds but now as I'm pregnant I can't and I don't want to be all pale and pasty so I'm planning on trying the Dove build up one soon and see how get on with that. I have used Fake Bake before and have got on with it very well but it does smell, not as much as the others but it still does!

That is so true, I smelt revolting after a fake tan I had a few weeks ago for a wedding I was going to. I loved having a tan, but when it started to come off I looked ridiculous! Imagine having different coloured hands on your honeymoon, plus the whole coming off on your dress issue. But then again,I would never go on a sunbed 'cause two of my close family had skin cancer. So pale and interesting it is for me!

I thought I'd like to have a spray tan too, I've had one before... so tried it out before my hen. First day it was too dark, which is fine with black clothing if you're going out but not with an ivory dress. But after three days it turned a really lovely natural colour and it hasn't stained my clothing and if you have it on for a few days its less likely to come off.

Still not sure if I will do that or dove before the big day but trial it, only you can know. I would say keep it subtle and leave it a few days... my knuckles were ORANGE first two days and that looks bad!!! If you are too pale it can look bad in photos and its unnatural
