Squeee! First wedding parcel - vistaprint advice needed though

kyanya, 18 June, 2012 at 12:21 Posted on Planning 0 6

I'm so excited! Got back to work this morning after a fantastic weekend in Cornwall for a friend's hen do (first one I'd been on) to find a parcel with my name on - my first wedding parcel, our save the dates from vistaprint ? We took advantage of their 100 free postcards offer before it ended last week, and managed to get some free address labels too, all for under £13 postage!

So as it seems a time for firsts, here's my first flash!! Our bargain basement save the dates!

I'm pretty happy with them ? They're not actually as dark purple as they look in this flash but the yellow is darker than I'd imagined, more mustardy, but I think it looks OK. The only slight problem is that some have black marks on the back, like those on the right in the flash (not the top and bottom margins BTW, those are supposed to be there! ?) The reverse shown in the flash is the worst I've found so far - some of the cards are perfect, and some are in between the two. I need to sort through them all sometime to work out how many are fine and how many are marked. We're not going to need all 100, it was just the smallest quantity they did, so I can live with not all being perfect, but a fair few do need to be mark-free.

If loads are marked though, what would I do next? Have any of you had faulty orders from Vistaprint before? I'm happy with the print and card quality, it's literally just these blacky-grey marks on the back of some of the cards that are the problem - they look like rubs from a dirty printer or something similar. I don't want to pay for returns though - the whole point of vistaprint was to save the pennies, as our wedding budget has a big fat 0 in the column for stationery!

Count how many are marked then send a picture to VistaPrint customer services to show the problem.

I doubt they'll make you return them and I would be surprised if they didn't replace the marked ones quite easily.

I would email them and tell them about the damage. They will most likely reprint and resend.

Thanks for the sterling advice, as usual, ladies ? I emailed vistaprint and included a link to that picture of the dirty marks on that card and they quickly sent a reply saying they'd reorder the postcards, which is good that they're being helpful about it. It would have been nice if they'd sent the replacements out with a quicker delivery time - I'd paid for priority (7 day) delivery and this is what the replacements are being sent as, but it's not the quickest delivery they do. I'd be pretty annoyed if I'd only paid for the cheapest delivery (up to 21 days) and then received faulty goods, only for my reorder to be sent out with 21 day delivery again. That would be a month and a half waiting for the postcards!!

Fingers crossed they are fine this time ? In the mean time, I have plenty of test cards I can use to work out what and how to put on the back of them! I tried handwriting this morning and this has eliminated this as an option ? so now we need to find a kind person with a printer so we can decide whether to print straight on to them or print on to card and stick this on - decisions decisions!

I bet if you pushed them on it they'd send them quicker. Not so much a problem with you having 7 day delivery but I reckon you could've pushed if you'd only ordered 21 day in the first instance.

What needs to go on the back?

I had a problem with the quality of my vistaprint order last week,

    https://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/t/318122.aspx

Took the advice received in the thread and called them, explained the issue and was given an email address to send pictures showing my concerns, I did this around 5pm on Friday and I'm still waiting for even acknowledgement of my email. (I'll probably give it a couple of days and contact them again)

I had a similar print problem with my invitations. I'd ordered them at the slowest delivery and they reordered them at the 7 day delivery so I didn't have to wait the same time again

We want to write a few words, explaining to be people if they're being invited to the day or evening

    Something like:

We'd be delighted if you could pop our date in your diary and join us at the church and after for our first meal as Mr & Mrs. Formal invitations to follow

for day guests, and for evening guests:

We'd be delighted if you could pop our date in your diary and help us celebrate tying the knot in the evening. Formal invitations to follow

Evening guests will also be more than welcome at the church earlier on in the day, but I don't know how to casually pop this info in to the message without it becoming too much like an actual invite! But at the same time, I'd love for as many evening guests to make it to the church as possible, so it'd be great if we could mention it in the wording somehow
