Stag do - no responses - WWYD

spaceychick, 3 May, 2010 at 10:07 Posted on Planning 0 8

Looking for some advice. My H is going to be a BM in August. The Groom gave him quite a long list of guys he wanted invited to the stag do. G wants the day to be planned as a surprise for him. About 6 wks ago, H text everyone with the outline, and out of 20 people got TWO texts back. He spoke to the bride who confirmed her dad etc were coming, but no one came forward with the £10 payment for paintballing. So H didn't book it (they've now lost the booking anyway).

The Groom has mentioned the stag do a few times - it's obvious it's a big deal to him. H's view is stuff it, if they can't be bothered neither can I. I know it's not my problem, but H needs a bit of help organising things usually. (Typical bloke!)

WWYD?

Is it possible for you to talk to the B2B and ask her what she thinks? It may be possible that she can kick the offenders into line without the H2B knowing about how useless some of his friends really are.

WSS. Tell the bride you're worried.

Emails are sometimes better? A nice to the point mail sayint you need people to respond to confirm so things can be booked.

Speak to the bride and tell her to moan! Then call the other men and tell them you need a yes or no are they coming now and you'll sort out money when you book it. Then give them a week and then moan for money!

Hope you sorted it. I'm old school and would say call them. It's the only way to get a guaranteed response!

My H2B had left the organising to his BM and an Usher but they were being rather slow - so in the end my H2B just phoned everyone to get responses. Best way to get an answer is to speak to people direct.

Hi - I thought I'd update you all on the outcome, and thank you again for your advice (which worked a treat!)

Well the bride got stuck into her brothers etc, and H contacted everyone again. 12 people paid a deposit for the paintballing. The groom spoke to H at the weekend and said the bride shouldn't have the stress and H shouldn't have to chase everyone (so the bride must have told him). Basically the groom said anyone who hadn't made the effort to reply wasn't welcome anyway, so they would go with the 12 people they have (and have a fantastic time).

So it's all worked out great, and no nasty surprises are waiting for the groom!!

    Thanks everyone xx

Glad it's all sorted. As a bride I would rather have the stress and sort it out than worry about it not happening!
