I still have a while to go but I am freaking out about flowers as well as I really have no idea about them at all.

Florist asked me what I want and I just stood there!

I am worried that ivory flowers will be too plain but other options worry me as I dont want over the top flowers and I dont want a round boquet thing. I am only little though and worry a shower one will make me look daft!

Any offer more advice than me please???

    Hi ladies,

I have not got an appoinment until next Month to see my 1st florest but must say not freaking out at the minute about flowers.

My advise to both of you is maybe do what I did. 1st up I decided that I love the idea of calla lillies and roses and my flowers of choice would be these. I just goggled flowers in season for October. The I googled Calla Lilly Wedding and looked on images and printed off a few that I like. I will be taking these along to my florest next month to show her along with a swotch of my dress and my BM dresses. Any good florest will then be able to point you in the right direction as to colour choices and arrangments.

    Hope this helps x

Has your friends Mum got any photos of work she has done before? If not, perhaps you could show her some bouquets you like in magazines or on the net? It's a bit difficult really because unless you know what her capabilities are, you can't really tell her what you want so I would definitely have a meeting with her especially as it's only a month away! She will need to be placing her order for the flowers in the next 10 days or so. She can't really order the flowers until she knows what bouquets you are having so give her a ring and put both your minds at rest Smiley winking

p.s. edited to say that if you have all white or ivory flowers, it's best to surround the flowers or mix the flowers with different textured foliages otherwise you won't see them on the photographs against an all ivory/white dress.

I am also looking at Calla lillies and roses but I dont want white roses as it wont go with my dress. Also my colour scheme is Chocolate brown and ivory, Dont have much choice in flowers for those colours though.

Rainbow Florist an you suggest ideas for my centre pieces? I have candles in vases which are not that high off the table and I dont want flowers round them but want something thats autumny if that makes sense? Twiggy in a way? no idea where to start

You can get twiggy rings that you can put your candles inside. They come with or without berries attached which is nice for Autumn so no need for flowers!

I knew I liked gerabras, roses & hand tied bouquets & that was it!

I took along a sample of my BM dresses (lipstick pink) & my mums outfit (lilac & purple). So she is doing bright pink gerabra's with lilac roses.

She asked me what my dress was like so I showed her a pic on the internet (its massive! lol). She asked me to get a close up pic of the detailing as she would get crystals in the same shapes to add to my bouquet.

She asked about our venue decor so I showed her a pic that the company had already done for our room so she then knew how to dress our martini glasses appropriately. And I showed her where we cut our cake (infront of a fireplace with 2 big cupid ornamental things & she is going to dress them as well.

Definately let the florist know what your theme is etc - I never thought of half the stuff she asked me, but it all helps her to enhance your theme rather than take away from it. And show pics of the kind of thing you like & take their advice. To me, experts are employed for a reason!

    Enjoy x
