Stazzle in here :)

Hello, just wondering if you were 'eligible' to have a toastmaster with Cooling? We've got max. 56 guests for the ceremony & the min. for having the toastmaster thrown in is 70. It says for a "small fee" he can be hired. Their fee is £250!!! I'm not sure what to do now. I was thinking our Ushers & Best Man would be ok but they're all a bit (the nicest way of putting it) naive about things & I'm not sure that they really have the authority to command people to & from, etc.

Think we may have to pay for the toastmaster...

Ta! ?

Sorry to jump on - I was gonna suggest Best Man/Usher but if you're not sure about them - is there another guest who you want to have a little extra special role that could do it? Or how about the Father of the Groom? He doesn't really get involved in the same way as the Father of the Bride so might be nice to ask him?

That's alright, the more the merrier!

It is a lovely idea, however, H2B's father died when he was 4 & is still sorely missed by his mum especially (I say that because H2B at the age of 4 only has a few memories of his dad).

My bridal 'team' are very organised girlies, his groom party are not at all. Plus they won't know any family members, etc. Might ask my brothers... they don't have a role as such.

Aww - Sorry to hear that ☹️

I like the idea of involving a close friend or family member. The main things the toastmaster needs to do is to announce speaches, tell people when to go into dinner, etc. SO as long as they're good at shouting ?

We have "Captain Bob" available to us but were going to give that job to a friend.

What about grand-parents, uncles, brothers or a close friend?

Think I may save the £250 & get Ushers & brothers to cobble together & assist. That way, they should know everyone there & we can spend the money on something more useful!

    Hey Foddette ?

We're at bursting point for the day at the moment (120 people) so as far as I know we get one included - I definitely wouldn't fork out £250 for one though if we didn't! I think I'd choose a family member like you said, or I've been to weddings before where the best man sort of automatically assumes the role if that makes sense? Just takes a bit of control over things and introduces the speeches etc.

I think getting your ushers and brothers to assist will be a good idea.

Spoke to Cooling today actually as I had a voicemail from Collette in the week asking for me to call her, we needed to arrang the rehearsal and the wedding meeting - I take it you've done those sort of things already?

Blimey! 120 people! Out of interest, what is there maximum for the day?

We've got our rehearsal on 26th Jan. Haven't actually arranged a meeting though... maybe we should do that too!

Will you be using their table plan? I've asked if they can give me some details of it as our table names aren't so... traditional! Below is my idea for the table plan (obviously I will amend it to a certain point but this is the idea so far).
