still no dress.....3 and a half weeks to go ?? UPDATE

mrsgzd, 30 June, 2015 at 19:13 Posted on Planning 0 38

I put up a post recently because I was worried my dress wasn't in store yet and I am getting married on the 25th July. Was advised by a few of you to get a date it was going to come in so I called them and they can't give me one. Starting to panic now.

It was originally due in end of may/beginning of June so at least 3 weeks ago.

I called 4 weeks ago and they said it was due in in the next couple of weeks

I then called last Wednesday or thursday and they said it should be in by the end of the week.

Called today and they said they would call the dress company with a date and call me back today....they didn't so I called them at 5pm. They told me it had been ordered to be delivered this week (so have they just been lying to me). Anyway apparently they only send one dress a week and they accidentally sent someone else's (during the call I also heard someone in the background say it was due in in a couple of weeks) they said they will get it here by Friday (from America....sure). I said I need an exact date so they would call the company again and call me tomorrow....bets are on as to whether that happens.

I explained I'm really busy so am worried about getting I for alterations etc and don't want to be charged extra for getting alterations done in a rush. They didn't seem to care and said they remember me and it just needs taking up so it won't be an issue......I explained that actually I ordered a size larger (chest wouldn't fit into smaller size) and therefore it needed taking in everywhere from my boobs down as it's a mermaid style and needs taking up and there's a lot of detail in it so I don't want to have it done quickly in a day like they suggested....they just don't seem bothered or to care.

I don't know what to do ? what if it never turns up?? The dress is a mori Lee.....would they really only send one dress out a week??

I would be making a HUGE fuss by now.... Go nuts on their facebook page and twitter. Send the word out about how bad the shop is. Don't bother ringing them any more; get down there and make them call them on loud speaker whilst you're there. Ask them for the number and keep calling them directly yourself. You've got to start getting firm with them.

Or maybe you could go to the designer directly? Guess t depends if you can afford to do this or if you've paid your dress in full.

Good luck. The shop sound awful.

Oh no I do feel for you here I would be going crazy too. It isn't good enough at this late stage for them not to be able to get an exact date that it should be in. Do you have a contract with them? I know when I purchased mine there was a contract to sign. Is it worth having a look back through that to see if there is anything in there about expected delivery?

    Good luck x

I'd love to go down there and get them to call on loud speaker but I work 9-5 so can't really get down there. I've just started a new job so getting time off might be a tad tricky. If it's not here by Friday I'm going in to talk to them face to face. My mum said she's going to call every day until it turns up. A 700 deposit has been put down and I can't afford to loose that, I'll ask my mum and see if we got a contract or anything. Thanks. Fingers crossed

This is so wrong definitely start kicking up a fuss and I would get word to the designer too as they are implying it's their fault therefore affecting their reputation. Also seek.legal advice.

Yup, definitely kick up a big fuss. That doesn't leave a lot of time for alterations.

What size was the sample dress? I think the main thing now is having a wedding dress on the day. If worst came to worst, could you get the sample dress (from the store or another store) altered to fit you?

I'm going to see what they say tomorrow and depending one what they say get in contact with the dress company as well. I hope they can give me a date tomorrow and stick to it. Might contact the dress company to check the date as well.

I may need a sample (with a hefty discount or free) if they mess it up but I'm a size 4 and I don't know if the samples could be altered down to that size without loosing there shape etc. And I'd obviously be gutted about not having mine.

How long did your alterations take?? Mine will need quite a lot of alterations

Good luck- I really feel for you. A LOT. Call, every day, kick up an almighty fuss.

For what it's worth, three seamstresses I have rang in the past two days said they can turn dresses around in 24 hours if need be!! REALLY hope that reassures you. For example one was 'the fashion workshop' in Ascot. No idea where you're based.

I live staines which is next to Windsor and ascot so that's really helpful. Just don't want to be charged the earth to get it done quickly due to there incompetence but I guess that's better than not having a dress at all.

I would not be being nice anymore, I think you need to be down at the shop personally kicking s stink up.

Also any costs of last minute alterations are surely something they should pick up as a gesture of goodwill for being ***

Can your mum get down the shop and make them call on loud speaker? This is absolutely disgraceful service. Definitely kick up a fuss on their facebook page etc though.

Oh good- that you're near Ascot I mean! I finally got the call that my dress is ready on Friday (3 weeks before the wedding) but the shop have made a mistake apparently and forgot to book their seamstress for me... who is now fully booked. So they recommended The Fashion Workshop instead, who when I called them said not to worry as they've turned dresses round in 24 hours lots of times.

Keep thinking of you and hope you get the dress soon- please call them daily xx

This is so stressful for you. Just to reassure you that you can get deliveries from the US quickly DHL and UPS do a next day from pickup delivery so they should be able to get it by Friday as long as it is dispatched so may be worth contacting the supplier to see if they have ordered it and it has been dispatched, or ask the shop who the courier is and what the tracking number is.

Wow I would be absolutely raging if I were you!! I can understand that you arent going to be able to get out of work but can't your mum or someone else get down to the shop for you? I'm not sure they are going to take you 100% seriously unless someone is down there confronting them properly.

    Good luck!!

    So news.....kind of.

They were supposed to call my mum back yesterday and didn't, of course. So she called them and they said they left a message for her (she guarded her phone all morning and waited and have my number and didn't try me so I'm guessing that was a fib). They told her it was due Friday so she asked for the date it was order but apparently they don't keep a record of that so she asked for the invoice number which they refused to give her at first and then they told her it hadn't been dispatched yet and was still going through quality control so all the times they have said it's due in and its on its way has been a lie.

Anyway they left a very apologetic voicemail on my phone today saying it will definitely be here Friday or Monday....I'm guessing that's tomorrow so ill update you all tomorrow and Monday and we shall see.

Thanks all for being so helpful and supportive Smiley smile fingers crossed

Have been watching this over the last couple of days. Fingers and toes crossed they get it in for you by Monday. You must be going out of your mind! it ridiculous they haven't got a tracking number if it's due tomorrow. Do you know who the supplier is? Maybe time to try and go direct. Might help cut through the shops bs xxxx

I have been keeping on eye on your post and was really hoping you would have a positive update. I think you need to start kicking ass on this one. It's really truly not good enough. Ask to speak to the senior manager / owner and explain you are not prepared to be fobbed off any longer. You are so much calmer than I would be!! X

Yeah check with her where things stand with the designer. At the end of the day you have bought this dress from them through the shop and it's clear the shop are fobbing you off. Maybe they can give you more information. Especially seeing as you're clearly not a neurotic bride stressing out with 6 months to go - it's really coming down to the wire here!
