Stoopids in the snow

spacecadet_99, 6 February, 2009 at 15:24 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I've just remembered something that gobsmacked me this morning so much I thought 'I must post this on hitched as soon as I get to work' - but then I forgot.

Waiting at the bus stop, there was a car parked up on the pavement near us, covered in a couple of inches of snow. Woman with child walks up to it, loads child into car, gets in herself. Turns on engine, and front and rear wipers. Then drives off, without removing snow from any of her side windows or her wing mirrors (and her rear wiper had only removed about half the snow from the back, and the front wipers had only partially removed the ice that was under the snow on her windscreen).

I was frankly amazed not to have heard a crash halfway down the road - she can't have been able to see anything to the sides or behind her, and fairly limited view to the front.

Anyone else got a snow-related stoopids story to tell?

Just the usual one of stoopids sitting right up my jacksie then screaming past me (and the huge queue in front of me) only to become unstuck as the dual carriageway was too snowbound to use the outside lane,

why did they think we were sat in a queue? losers.

I have one although not stupid in a dangerous way just stupid in an annoying way.

I was woken at 1am this morning by loud voices outside. Looking outside I saw a group of three grown men (at least in their mid-late twenties) playing in the snow. In full work suits. They continued to throw snowballs at each other and make noise for at least an hour. Consequently I am very tired today. I can only assume that they had just arrived back from the pub and were full of good "spirits". It's the only thing that makes sense as I can't imagine them looking out the window at that time and thinking "wow it's snowing, lets go out to play!" "Oh wait, we'd better put our suits on first".

I was a snow stoopid on Wednesday, I cleared all the windows of my car to take eldest child to school, we have to go down a steep hill at one point and as I braked at the bottom all the snow from the roof fell forward and covered the windscreen I had to get out of the car where it was to clear it! Ive cleared the roof for the rest of the week!

People not clearing the roof is a pet hate of mine. Even in areas where people should know better (ie there's snow permanently through winter) you still see it. I hate deivign on an interstate being hit by snow flying off the car in front. Even worse is lorries although I aprpeciate it's pretty much impossible to clear the top of those.

I also can't understand people who think a 2 wheel drive sports car without winter tyres is a suitable vehicle to go skiing in.

That remins me of my husband. Monday night he comes home and starts building a snowman at 9.30pm. In the dark. When the kids have already gone to bed!

I can't believe the amount of people who don't clear snow off their lights!! I nearly had an accident the other day as I couldn't tell the guy in the other car was indicating because his lights were completely hidden under the snow.
