Would you add a stranger as a 'friend'?

I've had a request by some bloke who I don't recognise, so I sent a message asking where we know each other from. He said "Lol, we don't, but I was looking for my friend called Kizmya, saw you and thought you might add me"

Errr, why would i do that?!

Why would he?

    No I wouldn't, some of my friends do but I think it's pointless - my rule is I don't add people unless I would agree to go to the pub with them ?

    I have enough problems with adding people I genuinely know. I seriously regret accepting one of my employees as her greetings every morning are directly related to my FB status "Morning Carrot, I see you've bought a new car/drunk too much wine/become friends with so and so/booked your holiday etc etc"

    Oddly enough I have ended up with 2 strangers as friends by accident and they don't cause me any hassle.
