Strega Girl

CountDuckula, 29 January, 2009 at 12:44 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 32

I went to school in the village from 5 to 16 and then on to a nearby 6th form college. I don't live there now and haven't done sice I was 18 but am not far away, still in Surrey. I'm 30 now. As a teenage I used to hang around outside Peter Dominics offy and the Co-op ?

Oh god, how weird ?

Haha, how funny. All the local teenagers still hang around the Co-op now, or they used to, until they started playing loud classical music right outside it in a bid to scare them off - seems to work too!

I can't believe you live there, no one has ever heard of it when I say where I'm from ?

I don't mind saying as I don't live there anymore but I'll leave it up to Strega Girl seeing as she does, she might not want me spilling her exact location ?. Trust me though, you won't have heard of it!

Oh, I don't mind - it's Farncombe, which is really a part of Godalming but not as expensive!

I wonder if there are any other 'Minger hitchers who are prepared to come out of the woodwork? (and that's 'Mingers as in Godal, not as in the other meaning).

    xx

Although that is debatable as I could name plenty of local inbreds who qualify as a Minger from The Ming ?

Well, yes, I agree - I was being polite! ?

Alison, the Ramster's meant to be a good venue for a wedding although I've not been myself.

Replied on the other thread but I'm a 'Minger' too! Lived in Farncombe till age 8 then moved to Godalming. Now living in Birmingham but still visit the old place as my parents and MrSC's both still live there. I went to the chavvy local secondary, MrSC loves telling me his parents sent him to County as they 'actually cared about my education'. Nobber.

Hmmm I wonder if we know each other IRL...

I was born in Aldershot, lived in Tongham, then Whitehill, lots of my friends lived in Liphook so I know it mostly from being on the train on the way through!

I'm going to be 30 in June. Does that put us in the same school year? If so we probably didn't like each other - I was not exactly the most popular girl in school and hated most of my time there! Ah, school days <gazing nostalgically into the past>

Oh and Zoe, if you had friends in Liphook and are around 28-29 you may well know some of my little brother's friends. I used to go to the Liphook festival with them and get drunk. Now that really IS a happy memory ?

That puts you the year below me as I'm 31 in March. So a very strong probabilty I know who you are. You didn't go to Binscombe Middle as well did you?

Fabulous, I've been looking for a new pair of slippers ? Oh, and what wasn't to hate about that stinking cesspit of a school?!

No, I went to Meadrow for middle school. Are you narrowing me down yet? ?

I wouldn't make good slippers, I'm always cold all the time.

    No, need more clues ?
I'm trying to think of some amazing fact about me that would identify me but I can't, I was fairly unremarkable. I wish the PM function was working ?

If I tell you my first name is Mel (but I was Melanie at school) and my maiden name was fairly unusual does that help?

Otherwise we'll have to work something else out I guess!

Ummm, I'll need to think about that for a bit ?. Actually, one of my facebook friends was in your year and I think there is a picture of her year group on there somewhere so that might help!

My name too is slightly unusual, initials are SL. I think the only other person in the school with the same first name as me was the drama teachers daughter who was in your year....god this is all so cryptic!

I've just looked at the photo, I'm not tagged in it but I'm fifth from the right in the front row. Doubt you'll recognise me from it though. I was best friends with the girl who was far right in the front row (who IS tagged) if that helps....

    Why doesn't PM-ing work, I can't remember the drama teacher's daughter!

Does your maiden name begin with B? That photo has jogged some very distant memory.

It does indeed! You should be able to find me on FB now and put me out of my misery, I'm on there with my married name but I think searching by the maiden name works too. I'm wearing red in my profile pic.

    Small world indeed ?

I'm not sure you will know who I am, I'm not sure our paths ever crossed or if we had mutual friends in common. I'm not entirely sure how I remember you but that picture obviously jogged something!

I know, considering there are what, maybe 1000 or so total forum members and most of those aren't regulars? I also know Kazmerelda's BIL (he's one of my brother's friends and I was at his wedding).

When I moved to Birmingham the lady I worked with said her daughter had a friend from my area - it turned out she was one of my best friends from middle school. Considering it was a 150 mile move I found that somewhat surprising.
