stress!

bluebutterfly, 29 September, 2010 at 10:07 Posted on Planning 0 16

Hi Ladies,

Am I the only person who feels so very stressed out by the whole thing?

It should be fun, wedding planning, but I find myself waking up in the middle of the night, panicking.

My mum isn't really interested in the planning ( its my second wedding).

My sister, who used to be my rock, died a few years ago..

My kids are typical teenagers.

My friends are fab, and I couldnt do it without them, but sometimes I feel sc very alone with it all...

We're getting married in Norwich, which is where OH is from, but we live in the Midlands!

OH is very very busy at work, and not the sort of person to get exited by colours and themes.

Right, now I've got that off my chest I'd better get on with it again!

!

No, did think about that, but have been told lots die.

Just butterfly touches on invites, cake etc.

I know exactly how you all. I have found it very stressful. I'm not a very patient person either and I therefore find it hard to not want to shout and scream at people who try to impress their idea of a wedding onto me or who muck me around! I've had to do a lot of tongue biting and that makes my blood boil!!!

    Anyway, nearly there now.

You are not alone! Hope it gets less stressful!

Thank you all, you're very kind.

Feeling a tad better, managed to find some lovley table confetti from paperchase today.

Theme _ butterflies, but not OTT I hope.

Colours: mainly spring colurs as April wedding.

    Hi Bluebutterfly,

So sorry for your loss - I think paying tribute to her with the butterfly theme is a lovely idea.

I think everyone finds the planning stage stressful, at least some of the time. I'm only in the early stages of planning and already finding some aspects of it quite stressful. I think having an outlet via Hitched is a big help, and I also try to make sure I don't spend all my time worrying about wedding planning by making sure I take a couple of evenings/or a weekend or whatever where I don't do anything wedding related - mostly just to keep me sane!

If it's any consolation, I am an only child, have never been married before and am marrying the guy I have been in a relationship with since I was 18, and my mother still couldn't give two hoots about my wedding! Well, that may be a bit harsh - but she's certainly not particularly interested. Thank goodness for Hitched ?

Sorry about your sister, all the touches that you are adding to remember her seem lovely and very touching.

A little different from my end. I feel guilty that I'd be boring people and taking up their time with my wedding stuff so I keep it to myself. Or I come on here.It does lose a lot of the excitement though when you have very few people to talk to about it.

This is why we have Hitched! We're all in the same boat here, all excited about weddings and some of us feel the same as you - disappointed that our OH/BM/mum/friends aren't quite as interested as we are.

I've found the girls (and guys) here to be mostly firendly and honest, but most of all willing to talk and not accuse you of being a wedding bore.

But it's hard doing it all yourself, so feel free to come and ask for opinions, have a whinge, celebrate/brag and generally get your wedding 'fix' with us!

You're definitely not the only one....i know exactly how you feel!

I wish we'd been able to set the date and get married within a couple of months so it didn't seem so far away!

Your sister will be with you and your theme is beautiful...though i imagine, like me, there will be a few tears on the day (lost my mum 4 years ago and am estranged from my sister)...

BUT you will have an amazing day and i can't wait to see your report and pics :o)

    Hello Lovely Ladies,

Only just picked up all your replies, thank you all so much...

Glad I am not alone in all this.

I know my sister will be with me in spirit on the day, as will my later dad.

I'd like to think they will be happy for me and proud of me.

But I am also planning on having a FUN day , not just for us, but for all the guests.

Thinking of all of you who will be missing a loved one on your special day, hugs and kisses xx
