Stressing me out!!!! Honeymooners/Travellers Advice Needed

churchbride, 14 November, 2011 at 06:43 Posted on Planning 0 19

Hi All,

So i am slightly obsessed with been organised and knowing when everything is booked. how it is, where were going etc, companies have all been emailed, deposits been paid for everything. Juat the matter of paying for it all now - JOY!!

Me & OH are getting married 27th July 2013 and looking to go on honeymoon about 2 days after - Im not been a snob but we dont just want to go to spain or something, we want to go somewhere special as we are then looking to start a family, so looking for 2 weeks All Inclusive somewhere nice and relaxing but where we have the option of excursions etc. Ideally we wanted to go to Cuba or Mexico but both places say its hurracaine season? Has anyone been to these places during July/August? What was the weather like??

Some people say dont listen its fine but i dont want to go and it rain for 2 weeks. Run out of other ideas or where we fancy, only only place we have looked at is Egypt which i know will be REALLY hot that time of year, will it be to hot to actually do anything??

Help/Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Smiley smile

Bali is a great choice weather wise. We were there in September into October and it was fabulous weather then too. Some of my family went to Mexico a couple of years ago during UK school holidays and they had fab weather.

    Hi There,

my OH and I have been to Florida a fair few times and Mexico once. They share the same weather seasons. We went to Mexico last November. We went in November as it technicaly is out of the hurrican season. Well what a waste of money, we went for 14 nights and i can safely say it raised for at least 10 days. The holiday itself is good and the place beautiful but unfortunately without the weather that type of holiday isn;t as good. Also it was actually cold at times. I have been to Florida in hurricane Season Late April till end Oct) and it does rain in short burts usually. its nice as it clears the air.

The only think i will say is if youhave youe heart set on going somehwere then just go. we went 'out' of the hurricane season and yet it still rained loads. Its all a game of luck and it's never gaurenteed to be sunny.

We are getting married on 23rd July 2012 and again that time of year is the wet season for nearly all long haul destinations. thsi in mind we are having (fingers crossed) two honeymoons. one after the wedding so we can relax and then another in December that year hopefully t the Maldieves when the wet season should be well and truely over. Maybe you could consider doing that to up your chances of good weather?

    Hope that helps, Gem x

July, August and September are the best times to go to Bali, we really want to go but can't have any time off in these months! ☹️

I went to Mexico in August a few years ago and it rained every day, but only for an hour. It was still lovely and warm, and it just meant moving under cover for an hour in the middle of the day.

I have also been to Thailand in August, te rain was much worse there but again only rained for a couple of hours each day.

    Hi ChurchBride,

Me and my new hubby have just got pack from 11 nights in Phuket, Thailand and it was more than I could of ever imagined.

We flew out 31.10.11 from Heathrow, we decided on Phuket at November is the start of their summer. Weather was fab it was around 30 every day and even when there was a few clouds it was still hot, hot, hot.

We flew out with Kuoni and the whole thing cost £3,000 but it was well worth it if its within your budget ?

I'm with Bionic on Egypt, we went in June this year and it was absolutely red hot! What about Mauritius or the Seychelles both have great weather at that time of year.

Thats great, confirmed my thoughts on Egypt - Dont wanna go somewhere and it rain but dont wanna got somewhere and it be to hot to do anything or be ill fromt he heat.

I will have a look at Thailand and Mexico i think. Like the idea of Seychells etc but we arent the kind of people to sunbath all day everyday,

Thanks for your help everyone Smiley smile

It's probably not the ideal time to go to Thailand, to be honest. Bali is beautiful though. And very interesting, not just lazing in the sun.

We went to Mexico in hurricane season, we flew on 14 August 2011 and managed to get the tail end of Hurricane Katia (I think it was). It rained for a whole day straight and had a wetish day the next day, but out of 11 - that's not really the end of the world. We found plenty to do to amuse ourselves - we had a photoshoot with the onsite photographer, we went to the spa, we snuggled up in the jacuzzi in our room etc etc so it really wasn't the end of the world. We'll be going again this next August coming I think. I've a video of the rain too on my FB - it was so awesome to watch!

I definitely wouldn't recommend Asia during the British summer, the weather tends to be wet and therefore the mossies etc come out to play, putting you at a higher risk of disease, too. Having considered the above, I think Bali might actually be a good bet for you i.e. warm climate, culture, not just a beach etc.

Bali is definitely a good choice, we had a fantastic holiday and there is a lot to do. Only downside is getting there, it's a long journey. We stopped on in Singapore on the way out for the Grand Prix. We had planned on flying straight home from Bali but due to a storm in Singapore we missed our connecting flight which turned out great in the end as Singapore Airlines rescheduled our flight to the following day (gave us various options, they were amazing) and put us up in a hotel for the night all expenses paid, including phone calls home.
