Are you near a university? I would suggest contacting your nearest university's music department/college, as most have a list of students who are in chamber music groups - such as string quartets - and willing to play at weddings. My experience has been that they are generally very good and very reasonably priced!

Well, I'd contact the music department/college directly. The receptionist should be able to tell you whether such a list exists, and if so, provide you contact information for the quartets.

    Hi Mrs2013,

I had The Dotted Crotchets at my wedding they are Manchester based and they were great, they play modern music as well as easy listening and classical. My guests really enjoyed the modern music in the drinks reception. We chose to have a trio and have them play for an extra hour as our venue wasn't that big.

Hiya!! I've been looking into get a string quartet too as me and H2B LOVE them!!

Found this link for musical students like the other poster has suggested, but you just send them details and they pass them on to the musicians on their books !!

I haven't tried it myself yet, but have it bookmarked for when we have the money spare for deposit (not getting hitched until 2014!)

    Here's the link: http://www.musicstudentsforhire.co.uk/

    Hope this helps!!

I have booked some students, http://www.murraymusicevents.co.uk/

They are at the Royal Northern College in Manchester, they met us on a sunday morning and performed for us in a practice room the other week...and they were cheaper than the dotted crotchets!
