String trio and ceremony music - opinions please!

Horace, 29 August, 2013 at 23:54 Posted on Planning 0

OH and I have spent a marginally stressful evening discussing our music choices for our wedding. We're having a civil ceremony and we've booked a string trio to play so we need to pick a piece for me to walk in to, 2 pieces for the signing of the register and one for us to leave to. After much debate for the signing of the register we have settled on In My Life by the Beatles (OH loves the Beatles) and It's All About You by McFly (yes, cringe, I know, I never expected McFly to feature on the playlist of my wedding) and we are leaving to Madness' It Must Be Love (all played by string trio). What I can't decide upon is what I come in to. I liked At Last, but OH doesn't like it, I also like Greatest Day by Take That but wonder if it's a bit too fast. Goo Goo Dolls' Iris sounded a bit odd on strings in parts and my mum said that she would 'think that I might be about to start hurdling down the aisle' if I had Elbow's One Day Like This after the Olympics, which has perhaps put me off a bit. I also love The Universal (Blur) but British Gas have ruined that for me. So now i'm stuck!

Did anyone else have a string trio/quartet and what did you have? I am thinking something contemporary because of our other music choices, not too fast but not too dull. All suggestions welcome! ?
