String trio or quartet - Yorkshire

LEN11212, 28 August, 2012 at 09:34 Posted on Planning 0 7

Morning All. I'm thinking about string music for our December wedding, to play as the guests arrive, for the bridal procession and bride/groom exit and then during the drinks reception. Does anyone have any recommendations from Yorkshire and is anyone able to share how much they have paid? I don't really have any idea how much they cost and most don't have prices on their websites.

Many thanks for your help!

Were not from yorkshire but we paid for our string quartet for 3 hours £395, they arrive 30 mins before we want them to so that they can then set up etc. none of the groups we looked at had prices on so we just banged out a generic email to lods of them calibrated the prices and chose the ones 1 we liked the osund of and 2 reasonable price

Thanks Zoomo13, I was thinking around £400 for 3 hours or so would be reasonable but nothing really to base that on up to now!

May need a rethink - the first group to come back has quoted me £695 for 3 hours! Ouch!

£100-150 per person plus travel is a good standard figure to go on for professional musicians.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I think I am going to contact Nero as that is by far the best price I have seen. Plus their repertoire list on their website looks excellent!

We are also having a string quartet and they are charging £340 for 2 hours. So they all seem to be similar prices. I have also seen Nero on YouTube and they are really good :-) xx
