Stuck on what colour scheme to go for! Help please!

Princess_Dimples, 24 March, 2010 at 10:22 Posted on Planning 0 13

We're possible moving the wedding to next year and I'm stuck on what colour scheme to go for. Basically I like most colours. OH doesn't pink, so that's been ruled out. He does like pastel colours as do I. When I ask what is your favourite colour he says Black & Silver. I do like Black & Silver but this is possibly going to be a spring wedding (March/April). Has anyone got any suggestions?

I thought of Tiffany Blue, which OH did seem to like, but I wouldn't know what colour the men could wear. Think OH is planning to wear a grey suit, but we're not sure what colour cravat & waistcoat would work.

Ohhh I don't know. Its all too confusing. There is also a chance our wedding will be the Friday after Easter, so an easter theme might be nice.

Any pictures of inspiration would be most helpful!!!

Im sure sherry will pop along with lots of gorgeous inspirational pics, apart from a maybe yellow with daisy theme what about Tiffany Blue and Silver? He could have silver waistcoat, grey suit and blue cravats?

Our colour theme is colour is blue and white and my OH is wearing a light blue waistcoat with a grey suit.

He's tried the waistcoat on with a grey suit he's already got and it looks lovely.

Grey is quite an easy colour to match to so you should be ok with whatever you choose hun. xx

Why not pop along to a shop (suit hire place or department store - depending on where your planning to geth from) and have a browse. You don't have to have a set colour before you start looking. You may find a bridesmaid dress or tie in a colour you wouldn't have thought of.

My colour scheme had to tie in with me wanting bright fuscia gerberas for my bouquet. I didn't care what colour anything else was as long as I didn't clash. D was quite happy to go with pink so we bought the men's ties in a pinky colour and the BMs chose the colour of their dress - both decided on a nice shade of pink. Remeber things don't have to match precisely, different shades of the same colour can work really well.

As it happens, my ties and dresses are an almost perfect match!! ?

Oh i really like the second set of piccies. I do love Tiffany blue and silver. Just unsure if we can get the right colour blue cravat for OH. I would also like Tulips as my flowers!

Thanks everyone for their suggestions so far

It's worth a mention but if you buy bridesmaids dresses then I have been told lots of places will sell extra material to make cravats etc from so that they match it might be worth investigating.

My brother's wedding two years ago was blue and silver themed (not quite tiffany blue but slightly darker) and the men wore grey suits with blue ties, it looked really effective overall and I think the tiffany blue would look lovely around easter time, really fresh and spring-like. I say go for it!

Are you still having it at De Rougemont or did you change the venue??

I originally wanted sage green/ivory/silver but didn't think those colour would work with either of the rooms so went for ivory/gold/with choc hints ;-))

Have stuck with the De Rougemont... we decided we were being silly trying to find somewhere else, when we'd actually already found the perfect place.

Im not so fussed on matching my colour scheme with the rooms. Just not sure what colour I want.

If you like Black and Silver then go for it - I personally think it is really classy and you could brighten it up with some fab flowers!

As for matching colours up. We had our mens cravats our dressmaker made those for us with the same material as used for the bms. The men out our wedding also wore grey with silver waistcoats and blue cravats.

I love the Tiffany blue as well such a lovely colour.
