Stupid Turkey Question... how cold does it need to be kept for storing.

Puss, 22 December, 2008 at 08:33 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

Am doing Nigella's super juicy whatsit turkey and the plan was to shove it in the brine, cover it and then put it out in the shed but I think it is too warm out there to do this so now I am stumped.

My fridge is already rammed so I will have to take out all the veg and shove what I can and store the bird in there until the 24th and just brine it overnight won't I? I am so bamboozled ?

The veg etc could go in the shed couldn't they? The turkey should be kept at less than 8oC, ideally though below 5oC.

My fridge is 4 degrees C. I would have thought the turkey would be cool enough in the shed this time of year. I am collecting my goose on the morningof the 24th and will keep it in our (unheated) bck porch overnight.

Yup, veg will be shedded as it is too warm for the turkey I think. Thanks Moglie.
