Suggestions for alterations to these shoes *Flash*

HLT, 23 May, 2012 at 18:48 Posted on Planning 0 31

I've bought these shoes but I'm not happy with the ribbon - I never have been! I think it looks cheap, but I am not sure what to do with it. I have tried different ribbons but they don't really look much better. Any suggestions?

Have you tried chiffon to give a big fluffy bow? Or ribbon to match your bridesmaids colour?

Ooh, I hadn't thought of chiffon.. I tried organza but it was too thin.

I have those shoes... and I think I am going to worry about the ribbon at things get nearer... I wondered about a stiffer ribbon of some sort...hmmm.. will watch with interest! x

ps.. they are very cute shoes though.. and I love the height of the heel.. just right x

I bought them at the start of the year with the view to sorting the ribbon out nearer the time but we've only got 3 months to go now. Good idea. I am going to try lace - had thought about it but didn't think it would work. I find the ribbon they come with is just too "heavy" on the style.

Ps I'm still undecided on the height. I didn't think to check the height before I ordered them - I am only 5th though and am considering something higher maybe.

Could you ditch the ribbon altogether and have two funky buttons on a small bit of elastic that pop up through the holes the ribbon goes in. You then have two buttons side by side on top of the shoe where the ribbon bow is?

That's such a cr@p description so I am not sure if you will understand that

I have similar shoes and am looking to swap the satin ribbon for organza/chiffon ribbon too and then someone at work suggested the button idea to wear them again

    HTH?

These shoes are lovely...all I can think about is changing the colour of the ribbon so not very helpful...

Where did you get them? They are the same style as I fancy having

Thursday Bride - thanks. I will indeed, although I have NO IDEA where to start with buttons! Been Googling but no joy yet...,

HLT - I love this site

    https://buttoncompany.co.uk/ (But is is expensive!)

Or just go into an old fashioned fabric shop - they sell individual buttons in tubes with a sample button on the end usually stacked in colours

Thanks.I don't think swapping colour would be a bad idea actually as I think the ivory is just too stark for them. They are from Light In The Box.

This got me wondering if there is any call for adding buttons to the range, these 3 are the most simple but they also go widely elaborate, however it would be a big investment at 36 -72 a style. Maybe also with button bouquets, what do you think

    ?

I loved these shoes but not the ribbon, I was going to change to elastic with a button on the sides to match in with my dress, ended up buying a totally different pair as I needed something higher. Still love these though.

Love the suggestions from great 3D jewellery!

Ok I'm no expert but then I didn't think I would be able to do a lot of things that I have for the wedding.

Can you not get some elastic and two cheap buttons, put one on one side and thread the ealastic through and sow the other button on the other side, put them on jump around, run up and down the stair see how it goes, if it doesn't work you've not spent a lot and still have the ribbon. If it does work then you can do it all over again ?

Or have I just had too many ciders (??)

Can I just hijack the thread a bit to ask if they fit true to size....I would love a pair but have not had much luck size wise but the measurements of these seem much better?

I love those pearl buttons....they would be lovely to add on.

I bought these shoes in a size 5 (38) and they fit really well and are very comfy.
The only problem is the ribbon, it's not great but the lady making my wedding dress is sending me a ribbon made of the same material and colour as my wedding dress sash.

I've got them in a size 5 - I'd say they fit as I would expect a 5 to fit.

Sorry missed this I have checked them out and if I buy the 2.5cm size I need to buy a minimum of 36 and the next size down 20cm 72 This is bit too much of an investment for me to make when I don't think that I would be able to sell them all. Especially as if i was to buy them they would be fairly expensive to retail too as the largest would have to be 2.99 EACH so a bit expensive for what you would want them for I think. I really didn't think that they would expect me to buy so many
