Suggestions please

It would seem that the registrar can only do 1130am on my day of choice (and changing dates isn't an option sadly). This means that there's a 2 - 3 hour gap in the middle of the day between the day event and the evening reception.

How on earth do I fill that 2 - 3 hours? Any ideas?

    Hi Cammie

Could you get some giant garden games - we had a giant jenga, but you can get all sorts from the bay of e (Snakes and ladders, chess, pick up sticks etc)
I also got four space hoppers (adult size) but the kids could easily play on them too.

Could you and hubby do a quiz?? Prize for which ever table gets the most questions about the two of you correct.

If you have kids, you could organise a craft table for after the meal - we went to a reception at the weekend and they were decorating balloons, crayoning etc - kept them quiet until the band started in the evening.

    Hope this helps
    Heather

Is the reception and the ceremony in the same place? Our venue offer things like clay pigeon shooting, quad biking etc for the day before. Is there are spa or anything in the hotel you can use? Or you could set up some casino tables and do things vegas stylee...

You'll be surprised at how quickly this goes - by all means have a few distractions for people like the garden games etc. but the time you take to greet everyone, have some pics done and a few drinks - it will fly by. ?

1 or 2 hours would be a great opportunity to spend some time with the photographer. Mostly we get 30 minutes, if we are lucky. With that extra time you can really work on some great portraits, try different locations, the time will fly by.

Just out of curiosity, why is changing the date not an option? We liaised with the venue and the registrar until we found a date and time both could do that we were happy with.

We wanted 2pm ideally, but on the original date the registrar could only do 12noon (too early for family travelling over 200 miles) or 4pm (too late). So we got all available dates from the venue and called the registrar for availability on all those date and ended up with 2.30pm.

    Hi Cammie ?

We've got the same 2/3 hour gap between luncheon and evening reception.

Although we'll provide some garden games and the bar will stay open, I think people will take the time as an opportunity to go back to their rooms and freshen up, chat to each other (if they weren't sitting at the same table, etc.

H2B and I are going to use that time to reflect on the day so far, I reckon, and maybe have a 'nap' [:I]
