Suit Hire

ShootingStar, 21 November, 2008 at 20:13 Posted on Planning 0 8

Just a quick question - did you or are you planning to help your OH pick the suit for him and his grooms men? My OH seems to think that because he can't see the dress I can't see the suits he is hiring. I really want to go to make sure he picks something that goes with the colour scheme but he keeps saying that I can't. Am I being a control freak?? A x

I let my H make the decision on suit style but chose the waistcoat & tie colours to match our colour scheme of ivory for him and dark red for the best men to match my BM. You're not being controlling but just making sure the photos look good! You just need to point out the reasons why it's a joint decision and don't forget the flowers need to co-ordinate too!

    Thanks Champers!

We agree on colour - OH is going to wear a white shirt and ivory tie, and ivory waist coat, grooms men are going to wear white shirts, green ties and ivory waist coats. BM's are wearing green dresses with an ivory sash. My dress is ivory, my flowers will be grren and pink - so will BM's and all button holes.

OH wants a grey suit (which is what I am not sure about) I think a dark suit might look better. But he wont let me come to see which one looks the best ?

Have to admit that I've told OH which suit I would like him and the other men to wear (and waistcoats and cravats)! I am a bit of a control freak but fortunately, we have similar taste and he is quite happy with the outfits that I like! I know that at the end of the day it doesn't really matter but I'd really like it all to match - wouldn't like not to have a say with the suits!

Actually off with H2B tomorrow to make the final decision on suit hire, as I can't sort out my bridesmaid's accessories until I know whether he's going for the grey or the brown suits.

I'm leaving the decision with him, but I just need him to hurry up and make it!

I wasn't allowed to see - all I could do was tell him the colour of BM dress and accessories. I am a major control freak so it was quite hard for me but I also understand where H2B is coming from. After all, he doesn't see the dress.

Part of me also thinks it's quite exciting that I won't know what him or our 2 year old son will look like until the day!

Still worry that he'll be turning up in an Austin Powers suit which he threatened when I told him the BM dress is amethyst purple ? - but the Best Man is quite style conscious so I know they won't look completley silly. If the colours completey clash we'll just have to have all the photos in black and white!!

My OH is deciding what he is going to wear without letting me see too. He keeps on threatening to get a suit like the film - The Mask! hmmm........

I'm deciding what the groomsmen/dads are wearing, but his is going to be a surprise for me as well as me for him!

Fingers x'ed (even tho i am bricking myself that he is going to turn up in a purple velvet suit or something silly)

    Dam xx

    Hi,

I always recommend to my clients to bring the b2b along on the very first consultation. I recommend this because women seem to have a better idea for colours etc. The b2b can always give me the nod if things are not going to match and I can try to change things round a bit. It is just simpler if you are there! it saves having to go through the whole process twice!

After the consultation on colours etc I try to then keep things as 'All Male' as possible for all the fittings and re-fittings. Men seem to like the relaxed 'All-Male' type envrionment of a tailors shop, so it helps with customer service etc.

That is how I prefer to book wedding suits, but I am sure all shops are different.

    Marc
