Suitable dress for the beach?

Lozzy, 2 January, 2010 at 16:14 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 8

I've fallen in love with the Eloise dress by Jenny Packham..... but I have a slight worry! My fiance (ooh so exciting to say that!) wants a relaxed wedding abroad on a beach where he can where shorts and flip flops.....sounds great to me but all of a sudden I'm worrying I might look a bit odd next to him!!

So, what do you guys think?!

I don't mind if the dress itself gets a little damaged on the day by the sand or whatever because I'll never sell it; so even though its long I don't mind. I'm just worried if this is perhaps just too fancy and we'll look very odd standing next to each other.

If you think it's odd, are there any other suggestions for a dress?? I'm a tiny size 6 btw so anything that suits midgets will be good, lol Smiley smile

    Step1
Select a bathing suit to wear to the beach. There's a bathing suit out there to match your needs and tastes, no matter your size or style. While you can wear cut-off shorts when you swim, a bathing suit's fabric dries much faster.
    Step 2
Bring a large shirt, ideally a long-sleeved shirt, to help protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Even if you plan to spend a good deal of the time in the water, you should bring along a shirt to wear while you're on the beach. Dress in white instead of black to keep your clothes from absorbing heat while you're in the sun.
    Step 3
Protect your feet by wearing a pair of flip-flops. The asphalt of the parking lot and the sands of the beach can get quite hot after hours of direct exposure to sunlight. Watch for broken glass or sharp sea shells if you plan to go without your flip-flops on the beach.
    Step 4
Wear a cap with a wide brim to help shield your eyes from the sun. As an alternative, stop by a beach supply store and pick up a souvenir visor.
    Step 5
Drape a colorful sarong around your bathing suit to retain some sense of modesty. Most womens' bathing suits don't leave much to the imagination. A sarong acts like a breezy, fun dress you can wrap around your bathing suit bottom.

I checked your dress out online and it looks beautiful. I think it would be a perfect dress for a beach wedding and you wouldn't look odd if your fíance was to go for a more casual look. I think the groom could dress up or down to tone in with your dress.

I'm getting married in February in the Caribbean and originally we wanted a causal beach wedding but I ended up picking a real fancy dress so my groom will be in a linen suit! Though its just a suit with a shirt, no ties or nothing, it'll be too warm.

I would still go for it, especially as it's your dream dress. I would wear a big wedding dress even if my h2b was in shorts.

    Hello

1 Pack an extra bathing suit just in case yours gets too sandy or you want to wear a dry one. Visit Evite for more beach party dress tips.

2 Bring additional layers of clothing for the cooler nighttime weather. Some beach parties go from day into night, so you'll want to be sure you have a sweatshirt, light pants or cardigan to ward off the chill. Nothing takes the fun out of a beach party quite like shivering with cold.

3 Plan for socializing in your beachwear. Be comfortable in your attire. If you are self-conscious about how you look in a bathing suit, wrap a sarong around your waist or consider comfy beach shorts. Guys can wear tank tops and shorts. There's nothing wrong with covering up a little if it puts you at ease.

4 Accessorize your outfit. Do not wear your most expensive jewelry, but add little accents for a nice touch. Add to your dress or outfit with colorful bangle bracelets or scarves. A long, lariat-style necklace can look very sexy with a bikini, and a rope-and-shell necklace can be very hip.

5 Dress appropriately for the theme. Some hosts will encourage you to wear Hawaiian outfits. For ladies, wear a floral print dress, shorts and a floral top or a miniskirt and tank. Guys can choose khaki shorts and a floral shirt or a brightly colored T-shirt or tank top.

I dont think it looks odd at all! It's a stunning dress and will look really good on your small frame. I wore a long dress when I got married on the beach, I asked my wedding planners what they though was best, and they said that anything goes basically. They're based on the Amalfi Coast in Italy if you're interested let me know. Anyway, I reckon you can both wear whatever you want cos you'll both feel more comfortable and enjoy yourselves that way!
