suits

Under 9 months to go now and this year is flying past! Yesterday we went bridesmaid dress shopping and we narrowed it down to two dresses in 45minutes! Now I need my last bridesmaid to decide so we can see if we're having two in one and two in another or all 4 in one. My mum has her new dress and jacket too so yesterday was. Big success yay!

the only big thing left is suits now. How long before the big day did you hire/buy suits? Has anyone hired a suit for a week and if so how much was it if you don't mind me asking? I'm wondering if we should just buy suits as we need them right after Xmas over New Years

We sorted ours two weeks ago, which made it just under 4 months until the wedding, they told us we were cutting it a bit fine leaving it so late!

We hired 8 suits in total and got the grooms suit for free, it was £525 altogether x

I didn't realise 4 months would be cutting it fine. I was planning on looking after summer but will start earlier now! That's really reasonable price wise. We only need two suits but for a week but I have seen a few suits that look reasonable to buy rather than hire but maybe it will be better to hire

My OH got suits made - Vietnamese tailors - was £600 for 4 suits to their sizes including delivery - took 8 weeks but worked out not much more then hiring and the boys are paying half of the cost as we were going to cover hiring.

Hi BridetobeMrsS. Do you mind me asking where you got your suits from? I'm getting 7 suits, so also a large number and that price sounds really good.

I Was leaning towards buying (my oh is having a tailor made) as I was worried about hiring costs. It seems a lot of places charge a lot for a day and with the wedding abroad we need them for a week but I think I will ask around first

    Hi MrsM

we have hired ours from Slaters, a wedding planner recommended them to me. I've looked on the website and it seems they have branches nationwide, we got ours in Manchester. I was pleasantly surprised with the price, I expected to pay a lot more! X

I'm in the very early stages of wedding planning at the minute (getting a date tonight ?), but from the off my H2B has said he'd like a tweed suit. Problem is, we'd probably have to get it tailor made, as he is a body builder, so his chest size, shoulders and upper arms will never fit into just standard suits without being larger on his belly - which he doesn't need.

For those getting their suits made, how long a lead time do you get given for them?

Lapland - would suits be more expensive to hire over the Xmas/New Year period?

Oh hasn't started looking at suits yet but he wants to lose more weight before he does so really don't think he wants to start looking for a few months, didn't know 4 months before was leaving it late though!

We got ours from Moss Bros who said they needed confirmation of sizes 6 weeks before to guarantee they would be able to provide everything we needed.

    Hello!

My fiance sorted out suits last weekend (11 April) for our wedding on 3rd May. It was one of the tasks I had asked him to take on, as I wanted us both to be involved in the planning/arrangements. We hired 4 traditional ones with the morning coats from Debenhams, i think for just over £300. They had a great range of waistcoasts and the staff were very helpful. And, we're hiring them in Leeds (where we live) but are allowed to return them to the Debenhams store in Edinburgh (our wedding is in Edinburgh).

I would say that we were cutting it fine by arranging it 3 weeks before the wedding, but i think 4 months before is plenty of time for hiring!

I thought sorting it 4 months before the wedding was plenty of time, but when I initially rang slaters and told them my wedding day they told me I needed to get in ASAP to set up the account and start recording the measurements. 8 suits is a lot to hire though, and we have our guys going in separately in their own time to add their details to our account, so that can be rather drawn out, depending on when people are available etc.

We ordered ours in January, for an April wedding.

We ordered from MOSS, just because we struggled to find somewhere that did the suit in adult and child sizes (most seemed to do different styles in the kids range and I wanted them all the same).

Picked them up at the weekend (they came in 10 days before the wedding) but they have to go back 2 days after - which we are going to find tight.

We also had suits delivered all over the country, as they live all over the place!

The only slightly negative thing was that you have to give a £200 security bond per suit when you collect - so we collected all the suits that came into our local store asI felt it was a bit awkward asking the other to pay it!

Soon to be Riley my oh is having a tweed suit by victor Valentine. It says they don't take long at all but we're going to sort his soon as we don't want to cut it fine. In all honesty I don't know if it will cost more but I may have to hire before Xmas as we fly out the 27th dec
