Suntan lotion

TinaBeana, 15 June, 2016 at 09:07 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hello all,

I have just realised (with 10 days to go) that I am getting married outside in the high of summer and I turn into a lobster in the sun :-/

Now I'm sure this question has been asked many times before, However I can't find it, but what suntan lotion can I use that won't stain my dress, will last all day and not stink?

Many thanks

Oh no! This is something I hadn't even considered, although I will probably be indoors most of the day (phew!)

P20 lasts all day and you don't have to reapply, however it's kind of yellow-ish, so you would have to apply it a little while before you put your dress on and let it sink in completely. I've never had an issue with it transferring to my clothes on holiday (apart from when I have stupidly sprayed it directly on my clothes...!) But I would try it out before a couple of days with a white t-shirt or something just to be safe!

    Good luck! x

I use Nivea for Kids factor 50+ (I'm so cool yeahhh ?)

This is probably the best one for your Wedding Day as it is transparent and lightweight:

Whatever you use though, I suggest a thorough dousing and rubbing in about 10 minutes before you put your dress on to allow it to sink in Smiley smile

Normally your photographer will find a shady spot to use for the photos, so you shouldn't be out in the direct sun for long. If there is no shade, they may turn your backs to the sun. So it's worth discussing the matter with them - if they have to shoot the groups in the sun then you might find you have applied lotion to the wrong side of your body!

Ultra Sun you only need to apply it once a day and it does not stain at all. P20 stains against white I find. They sell it in John Lewis and I think Boots now do it. I am an August bride with most of my day being outside (weather permitting) and I will be wearing the glimmer one they do as it has a shimmer to it Smiley smile

*looks outside at the pouring rain*

Hopefully the sun will have returned by then! Smiley smile

I would maybe get one of the apply once ones - and then pop it on after your morning shower and give it time to sink in. I suppose you won't put your dress on until you have your hair and make up done, so you could give it this time to sink in, to avoid any worries.

Just be aware there are some studies coming out that the some of the once a day types don't provide protection all day - so make sure you're buying a good one.

Maybe also order a pretty sun parasol?

Thank you all - as the ceremony is (hopefully) going to be outside and all photos outside I would be applying it to all of my exposed skin.

I was going to get some p20 but read some reviews saying it stained white clothes and washing it could make it worse (somethings have been stained pink after washing, do not want that on my dress)

I think ill pop into Boots and pick up a few and give them a test (in the rain...)

    Thank you all
