Super Niche Venue Help!

ExpensiveBlueCakes625, 28 August, 2016 at 20:13 Posted on Planning 0 6

So, we're trying to plan our wedding. We want a ceremony for just the two of us, ideally in a country house or shooting lodge style venue, where we can stay the night and eat amazingly good food.

We have one venue in mind so far: http://www.holbeckghyll.com/ we ate there a few years ago and the food is amazing, but I really want to get a short list together. Must be UK, ideally England, South West or Midlands are superhandy for us. The real biggie is that the food must amazing, the location rural and pretty. Log fires and horses always appreciated.

Does anyone have any ideas that I can add to my short list?

I've stayed and eaten at the Albright Hussey in (Near Shrewsbury - midlands ish), it's super pretty and the food was fantastic. Some nice land (although I seem to recall one side of the venue had a bit of an iffy view, but it was mostly hidden by trees and could only be seen from the car park).

Then slightly less good food, but a beautiful building (and feels rural when you're there even though it's near birmingham) is the New Hall hotel in Sutton Coldfield.

Have a look at Northcote Manor in Lancashire. Might be a little out of your way but it's a lovely hotel. They don't do lots of wedding but a friend had a very small wedding there a few years ago and looked amazing. Not cheap but the food is out of this world as the chef is Nigel Howarth. It's a lovely place. Good luck narrowing it down.

My first go-to other then here for venues is Coco Wedding Venues (I wish it had been around when I got married!). There are so many beautiful venues on there and even those where you can have your own choice of caterer if need be. Definitely worth a look.

    Hi,

If you're after exclusive & rural try Davenport House in Shropshire. Food is very good and the venue is charming!

Or try Brockencote Hall...again the food is excellent. It's in Worcs.

There are also lots of great venues here on Hitched!

I have photographed weddings at Chevin Lodge hotel near Otley in Yorkshire. They have a licence for civil ceremonies and the venue meets your description.

Thank you, I'll have a look at these this evening.

I've also spotted this please: http://www.belmond.com/le-manoir-aux-quat-saisons-oxfordshire/le_manoir_weddings which fits the bill perfectly, basically I'm spending an entire wedding budget on a nice meal for myself and my fiance Smiley laugh

Have you looked at Babington House in Somerset? - https://www.babingtonhouse.co.uk it's in amazing countryside and the food is incredible. All of the accommodation is super luxurious and there's a spa onsite.
