Supermodels

I don't know why but it annoys me that this term is being used a lot. It was highlighted when I was watching "Make me a supermodel". You can't make someone a supermodel, surely? In fact, I am adamant that the only true supermodels are Linda Evenagelista, Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Christy Turlington and Helena Christensen. That's it, no one else, not even Janice Dickinson or Kate Moss. I always thought it was a phrase coined for the above to describe that era, rather than a term to label any model these days. Am I going mad?

I was thinking the same thing about the Lily Cole (is that her name?) yesterday after seeing her in an M&S advert.

Totally agree - these days even models who've just started out have been called supers. To be a supermodel they should at least be household names by modelling (not by appearing in reality shows like Janice Dickinson). I don't mind counting Kate Moss in but the term is definitely overused.
