I took my husbands name when we married. He has a lovely unusual surname and mine was really common.

I am, and looking forward to it too. Ive not gone for the popular "sticking both surnames together" as it is annoying - it is still different from your OH's so why bother?!

I dont know when I'm supposed to tell banks/bills etc, and im wondering if I can leave the passport as long as poss, as I only got it last year!

What are you going to do?

Yes I'm taking his surname, I actually can't wait to have the same name as him and our kids!

Feel very left out, even our pets are registered under his surname at the vets lol!

My sister in law lives in italy and marries an italian and she kept her own surname as italians dont take the husbands surnames unless they are being introduced together. just got me thinking x

Yep I'm taking mine. H2B said I have to! I can understand why some people don't though. It's been my identity for 30 years, I'll be sad to see my family name go.

I'm taking his name but I won't be able to at work - I keep turning it over, but realistically I don't think it's a good idea.

I'm changing mine too for almost all reasons already mentioned. OH has two children so we'll all be the same (including any that we might have together). I know it's stupid but somehow it feels like i'll be part of their family more.

I've also got a name that no one can spell and i'm tired of repeating myself and spelling it again and again. Even when I spell it for people they repeat is back wrong - there's no G! (rant over, sorry).

I'm going to change mine too - think it's nice, but know what those mean saying it will seem a little sad too. I def want to and is totally my choice but I wouldn't want to feel any less part of the family I grew up in and will be losing my Dad's surname who has passed away.

But it's the right thing for me, will take some getting used to though I think, and have NO idea what my new signature will be!
