Hi all!

Question - who's taking their husbands name when they get married, and who's keeping their own? Anyone double-barrelling?

My surname is Davies - so very boring / common. My h2b has a pretty common name too, although not as common as Davies! Despite its commonness I'm quite attached to Davies, it's been my name for 25 years after all, and I think it goes better with my first and middle name than my h2b's name. On the other hand I don't want to be Ms Davies, and Mrs Davies would imply I'm married to Mr Davies!

I'm taking OH's surname. He is traditional in the fact that he's expressed a desire for me to take his name, but also said if I wanted to keep my maiden name he'd be fine with it. I thought long and hard about it. Double barrelling was never a consideration for me, as I have a double barrelled first name, and no one needs a name with 4 parts!

Personally, I want that outward sign of the two of us being a family, sharing the same name. As I'm not overly attached to my maiden name, along with OH's preferences, I'm happy with this decision.

Can't wait to be Mrs H. I don't particularly like my surname, it is unusual and I have never met anyone else with it but I always have to spell it out and as someone earlier said, it reminds me of my waste of a space selfish, sorry cant even bring myself to say the word, but the person my lovely mother married!

My new name will also be unusual but in an olde English kind of way.

We still haven't resolved this! I am thinking of keeping my maiden name at work and using my married name at home. I would consider going double barrelled but our names are not that dissimilar so it would be rather silly. My name is nicer than his name and slightly less confusing to spell -great reasons l know! Plus l cannot face the hassle of changing my name! When we have discussed it briefly then Mr Erin didn't say much either way but he is very traditional so l doubt he would be that happy if l didn't change my name.

Initially, I didn't want to change my name, as only a few years ago, I had changed my surname by deed poll to my dad's. Hubby half heartedly suggested double barreling, but my maiden name and his surname, just don't go together at all. So after a brief conversation, I decided that if we are getting married then I want to take my husband name. Don't know if we are allowed to give our full name on here, but my name is also a famous song, which at times is a novelty. Most people, my age-ish or younger, don't get it, some people who know it smile, and others laugh and say, like the song :-)

I'm changing mine Smiley smile I have a Dutch surname and it's long and I have to spell it out every single time I call anyone or need to give anyone my name (and that's a lot because I'm a property manager and speak to hundreds of people... My h2b's surname is Polish, but at least it's shorter and I can't wait to be his Mrs Smiley smile

I will be changing my name, I love being an Atkinson (and will have been for 29 years when we marry!) but I am also excited about being Mrs Lloyd! Plus I like the fact that Lloyd is celtic like my forename (Siobhan), so despite being a Yorkshire girl through and through (and by heritage) I will have a very Celtic name. Ultimately though, I want to have the same surname as my future children, I suppose I'm very traditional in that sense. ?

I'm changing mine but our surnames are vaguely similar anyway so i'm changing from a Miss M to a Mrs M.

There's no way i could double barrel though, it would sound like there's a 3rd person in our marriage as one surname is a boys name! lol
