Surprises for the groom

Hoddy, 12 August, 2013 at 12:38 Posted on Planning 0 21

Anyone having any presents/surprises for their husband to be? Care to share some ideas?

I'm having a boudoir shoot done next month (and have to keep the pictures hidden for another 10 months which will be tricky!), as well as sending him a card on the morning of the wedding and I also have a 'last chance to run' sign as a surprise to hopefully make him laugh as I'm walking towards him on our wedding day. I want some more ideas but I just can't think!

I have got him an expensive watch and am looking to get a boudoir photo-shoot like you....just waiting for my Jennifer Aniston body to appear before I book it.....I have 9 months!

Think that will be about it really. I have told him I got a surprise present/gift for him for the wedding day but he hasn’t a clue what! he did ask if he had to do the same thing, but I said no as it’s a gift for him as I got an engagement ring! – Only fair!

My other half was going to drive himself and our two little boys to the wedding (I am staying at the venue and he is staying at home with the boys and his ushers and their kids) but I have booked a VW Camper Van to pick him and our two boys up. I have told one of the ushers so that he doesn't leave early!! I am also ordering one of these to arrive in the morning of the wedding with a card that will have some soppy stuff written!!:

Awww those cookies are a cute idea! Made me remember my OH used to love my homemade gingerbread so maybe I could make him some and decorate them myself. The camper van sounds really cute, your boys will love that too!

    Hi,

I have made my OH a care package for the monring of the wedding. It has a glass with a little message and a mini bottle of whiskey (he isnt driving to the venue) some socks incase he gets cold feet & some marbles incase he loses his. Also I know he is going out the night before so I have put the usual in (pain killers, red bull ect)

Also one of my friends works for a car company so have arranged for him to pick my OH up.

Its nothing massivly expensive but its the though that counts Smiley smile

LOVE IT ? I don't think my OH would understand the sarcasm, he's already lost a few marbles.

What you have planned is fab. A bride from a few weeks ago have these light up letters brought in for the evening do.

So far I have got him a groom journal. I am struggling to think of other stuff within my budget as he doesn't wear watches or cuff links. If money was no object I would hire either an Aston Martin DB9, Ferrari or Lamborghini to take him to our venue.

Hoddy where did you get your last chance to run sign??? I'm wanting one but can only seem to find them on esty! Shipping is so expensive...

my plan was also the sign to make him laugh and relax him a little I know he'll prob be freaking out! I'm also considering booking a FYEO boudoir shoot!

In definitely going to have his wedding ring engraved and will send him a short letter on morning of our wedding.

Yep same here, i have included ... hipfask (that will be filled), polo’s so he doesn’t stink of booze when greeting guests, "groom"socks, ibuprofen in case he had too many the night before, how to tie a cravat guide and also his little wedding present, engraved cufflinks and the box reads “see you at 2 O’clock”

I have actually done these little bags for all my adult bridesmaids (ibuprofen, tissues for the tears mints, mini mirrors, t-shits with “bridesmaids” on, shot glasses for a quick shot of courage and their present) My dad (£5 so he can’t say i have left him skint, tissues for the tears of joy, “FOTB” socks, personalised cufflinks) and my mum (pretty much the same as the bridesmaids).

These will all be given out the night before and on each item i hate attached a tag to it saying what it’s for i.e Ibuprofen for the head ache i have given you over the last year with the planning. Tissues for our tears of joy. Mirrors to see how lovely you look. Just thought it would be a nice touch and they are all personalised by myself.

    I have got OH -

Cufflinks that are engraved with "I love you more"

Socks that say "So you don't get cold feet"

A Jack Daniels hip flask and a miniature

He has a card as well. His Mam will give him it all on the morning of the wedding

Seen a fair share of ferrari, maserati, vintage cars, campervans, as supprises and I think that the personal - not necessarily expensive things, like the ones that only you could know will make him laugh are wonderful but I cant help thinking of this one. The groom was an airplane fan and the bride organised a surprise mini WW2 mustang airshow.

I think its about what your OH is like, I know mine is going to be nervous & is going to need a bit of dutch courage.

I also got the best man, usher & my brother (who is giving me away) a socks and cufflinks set so they feel included.

Also I got him a pair of boxer shorts saying "property of Mrs" with the date of our wedding Smiley smile

Oh has anyone actually had one a boudoir shoot?? I was thinking about it but was a bit nervous about getting one!

I got my H the traditional engraved watch, but surprised him with a brand new mountain bike at the wedding breakfast, with new helmet and 3 nights at a top hotel in Leeds for the TdF next summer. I got a beautiful ring when we got married and he got naff all, so it seemed only fair he get treated too.

Although he's a racing bike buff he loves his mountain bike too. And it's handy for sending him out for the late night trek to the petrol station for Minstrels ?

I bought it from eBay. I asked a lady who just did other personalised signs to change it for me to 'Last chance to run Dan'. Here is the link to the item:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190819826359?var=490141272660&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Bear in mind it is small, so rather than it being carried up the aisle I might have it hanging on something.

My surprise for my H was our cake toppers - a cute version of us and H in an arsenal shirt.

Yeah I see where you are coming from, personal and heartfelt is definitely the way to go :-) my OH is a big car nut so he'd love being surprised with a great hire car.

Do any of you know where to get personalised stickers or where to get words sewn onto shoes?

I got him a grooms journal for the night before so he can read that before going to bed and hopefully calm his nerves! Then when he gets to the venue I will (hopefully if I save enough) leave him a box saying 'see you at 1pm' and inside will be a nice watch.

I agree personal presents are nicer but my OH always spoils me and bought me a rock to die for so it seems fair to do a personalised present AND a pricey one. Also I love the 'your sdie, my side' pillowcases as I always go to his side haha x
