Sweet Carts?

moomiepie, 15 July, 2014 at 07:31 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi, what do you think of sweet carts? Are they a good idea? Are you having one and if so are you sorting it yourself or having someone in to do it for you to take the hassle away?

This is something I am looking into so your opinions will be gratefully received x

Hi Smiley smile I originally had one booked for £65 just for the cart, but decided to just set up a sweet table, I've bought jars from tesco/asda for £1 with hey lids, they are like cookie jars, and have bought all accessories on eBay and all sweets I've bought from various shops, I have way too many lol and I don't get married til April. I need to stop haha xx

We are doing our own sweetie table.

You can easily pick up really nice, relatively cheap jars, bowls from lots of places (which you could then sell on to recoup some of your spent money). The sweets we were planning on getting from Macro & to be honest I keep picking the odd thing up from places where I see them on offer....such as Vanilla Fudge from TK Maxx etc.

However, please bear in mind that you may then have to set it all up yourself, unless your venue are good & offer to do it for you at a convenient time during your wedding day (depending on what time you want it set up)

We're doing one ourselves, my OH's going to make a smaller version of the cart** and we picked up jars from a sale in BHS, going to the cash and carry place for our sweets and got our bags/scoop/tongs from ebay.

**He works for a house building company so can get the wood for cheap :]

We're also doing our own sweety table & it's doubling up as favours. I got the jars from a mixture of places, mainly charity shop & Ikea. I've bought the scoops from homebargains 79p for a pack of three so bought 2 packs, and the bags were also from homebargains 59p for 10.

We are having a cart; £50 to hire and they are charging £2 per person for sweets. Any left over they bag up for us to take home. We have a sweetie tasting session a month before the wedding when we choose the sweets we want, we're looking forward to that lol!

I know it would have been cheaper to do it all ourselves, but I decided this would be easier and we're having a candy cart instead of favours.
